As a general rule, I've found that the first part of a New Series two-parter is better than the second part, so I have fairly low expectations for this week's episode. Hopefully I will be proven wrong in this case.

No, I was thinking the same thing when I started the thread yesterday Why is it that when you want things to last forever, they just seem to fly by?

Yeah, this has especially been true for season 3. And because of that, and because I wasn't too blown away by last week's episode (and to be honest I'm still a bit skeptic about Helen Raynor), my hopes aren't that high either. Definitely wouldn't mind being proven wrong on this, though!

Me too, that would be fantastic not counting on it, but I'm definitely hoping!

The only two-parter that I thought the second part was significantly worse was The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords, but that's just my opinion.

Well, I really liked last week's a lot better than PotO, but it still wasn't a patch on the first two episodes of the season.

Looking forward to tonight's episode, even if I agree that the second part of a two-parter usually seems to be a bit of a letdown.

A Rose scene would be great, even if she doesn't appear in person, I'd be happy with a reference to her as well.

I loved last week, I thought it was lots of fun, and it's kind of inevitable that in 2 parters the 1st part is better, the 1st part is where all the big storyline happens, and the 2nd part is just fixing it, still that said I really enjoy them.

A few thoughts:

- I loved all the references in the ep, like the Brigadier and Captain Jack!
- Poor Ross though, he was way too pretty to die.
- Bernard Cribbins totally steals the show.
- ROSE!! .. enough said.

I think I need to rewatch it before I say anything else.

Overall, I really loved this episode. I think the pacing was good, not a dull moment, I was on the edge of my seat practically the entire time. Helen Raynor is forgiven in my book, and the 'second part of a two-parter is a let down' -curse is also lifted

I'm going bit by bit here:

- Sylvia got Wilf out! With a big axe! Woooooo

- TARDIS key for Donna! very sweet moment, kind of ruined by the gas... But you know

- You can tell that the Doctor knew right away that that clone wasn't Martha

- ..........................ROSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeah, it took me a good 10 minutes after that to get focused again on the rest of the episode it's insane how one glimpse of her that doesn't even last a second can get me THIS excited!

- Last week Luke Rattigan annoyed me beyond reason, this week I actually found him kind of hilarious.

- Awwww Ross We liked Ross!

- The whole bit with Donna on the Sontaran ship, on the phone with the Doctor was really intense. I was holding my breath for a lot of it, I loved that. I loved that Donna was scared, and that she didn't want to do it, but she went out there anyway. And her little dance when she knocked the Sontaran out!

- "It's Sontaran shaped, three fingers!" "You've got three fingers!" "Oh, yeah!"

- ....."Are you my mummy?" LOVED THAT! also, if you think DT's hair can't get crazier? Stick a gasmask on him and then make him take it off

- "If you're calling him dad, you're definitely getting over him." bwahahaha.

- The UNIT couple!

- The Doctor saying goodbye was sad. Of course I knew nothing would happen to him, but it still made me well up a bit.

- Aww, Luke did something clever. That was... kind of awesome.

- DONNA SMACKING THE DOCTOR!!!!!!! I knew and hoped that would happen, but I still laughed out really loudly when she did! Heeee.

- The end! "What? WHAT?!" very cool, with the hand in the jar bubbling and everything. Nice build up to next week!


And next week... Wow, that looks intense! Georgia Moffett is so gorgeous! Can't wait to see how all of that is explained. And JOE DEMPSIE! really looking forward to that
