Lots of Drew - yay!

Sarah and Mike make a cute couple. I don't like the previews for next week with Gordon.

I actually liked Renee this week.

ETA: Did Crosby call Seku "Sudoku" when he arrived to pick up Jabbar? That was funny.

Hmmmm...loved parts of it but was really frustrated w/ others. I feel where this show excels is in the small intimate moments and Lauren & Miles' was particularly touching tonight. However, as soon as they settle down into one of those moments they abruptly whisk you off onto another vignette and lose some of the dramatic momentum. Was anyone else bothered by the dinner scene? It was cut off way too soon. Adam & a dressed up Kristina show up & run into Sarah & Mike, they have an awkward greeting & don't even sit down before they cut to what looks like the next day w/ nary a thought at what went on during that dinner. I guess I just wanted that scene to be fleshed out more. But I did enjoy Joel's Daddy talent day, Dax having that talk w/ Renee about being a family unit & Sarah's cute little interaction w/ Mike @ work. Next week it looks like the heat is being turned up in Sarah's little love triangle, I'm looking forward to that. Anyhow, they're enjoyable to watch for the most part but right now I'm still not able to fully embrace these episodes because of how jumbled they still seem to be. I really wish they'd find a comfortable rhythm so it doesn't feel so rushed a lot of the time.

I would have loved to see more of the dinner scene with Sarah, Mike, Adam and Kristina. Lauren would have been funny in it, she plays "awkward and uncomfortable" so well.

Overall, the episode was kind of dry. I only liked the Sarah/Drew and Joel scenes. There was too much Kristina/Adam and Jasmine's family for my liking.

Great ep but I wish we had more, it's just that you get into a scene and bam they go to the next one.

Love the Drew stuff, he really shouldn't have listened to him mom but I liked their scene at the end. Hope we get more of Holly in the coming weeks.

Also loved the Crosby stuff and how he's finally getting on with Renee and now Jasmine is back home for good.

And I must say the 'double date' thing was a bit weird but I would have loved to see more!

Lots of music this week!

Okay, this is the first time this year where I kinda liked the ep. Of course I can't speak for the Crosby and Julia sl since I decided to skip that parts to be even able to watch the episodes. But that rest that I saw was good. I liked that the ep was kinda calm and there was a family scene. I would have liked to see more of the double date dinner, it looked so great in the sites, Adam being pissed at Sarah and all that stuff. Drew being in the ep instead of Amber was a nice change, and although I don't think it's a good idea to cast someone from GG I didn't mind Vanessa Marano that much. And what's with the rocket at the last scene, so cheesy and of course it reminded me of Rory looking at the balloons in season 5. I'm usually not into comparing TV shows but it's like Katims and Howard or whoever conducted that episode has seen too much GG.

The show has one big problem: too many characters, too much going on.

You forgot at least one song.

There is a Mountain - Donovan
(played when Joel and Zeek were in the garage)

I liked the episode, but I think we really missed out as an audience by not showing the dinner date scene. That could have been brilliant.

Okay, I'm coming out of hiding to have my say. The episode was great, especially the Sarah and Drew scenes. There was one moment that was so brief and yet really said alot. During the bedroom scene between Drew and Sarah when he says that he doesn't really blame her for his dad leaving and says he misses him. Sarah gets all wistful and says softly, "I miss him too." That says so much. It was a real (if not brief) glimpse into her pain over her past. I hope that opens some story lines between Sarah and Seth and the kids. Sarah still carries pain from her past. I hope she gets the chance to really heal and move on. She looked absolutely crushed when Drew accused her of making his dad leave. Drew also has so much pain, as I bet Amber does as well. I can only imagine how painful it was for Sarah to try to help her husband with his addiction problem only to have to finally take the kids and leave him. I guess this is my long winded way of saying that I really enjoyed that brief glimpse into Sarah (and Drew's) painful past. It was a moment for them to connect to each other. And it was deeply touching. Okay, back into the shadows I go.

Thanks for that, I'll add it to my list.

I got the lit from NBCs PH site, they also didn't list the classical music last week and I have a few unknowns on my site.

I'm like a pack-rat, must find all the songs

ITA when I read the date scene spoilers I really was looking forward to seeing more!

ETA - just checked and there was a scene with them at dinner but obviously it was cut, could we hope it ends up on the DVD?

I really liked most of this episode. It felt much more controlled in a good way and not so frenzied, though I agree with everyone else that it would be better if scenes could go on longer and not cut out just as the tension is really there. Not so much yelling over each other was also really nice. I don't mind a bit of that but after a while it doesn't work (for me anyway ) I hate to say it because I don't dislike him at all but a little less Max was actually quite nice too The ending also was a bit iffy, too much cheese. I know it's not real life, but I think I can safely say that would probably never happen in anyone's life I know

I loved the Drew/Sarah scenes, I could have watched an entire episode of them. I really hope they do go a little bit into the past with Sarah/Seth etc. I know this is a so called new life for her but the past always comes back somehow and especially with the children too it'd be an interesting place to go with the story. I was worried in the first few episodes that I might start to get annoyed by Sarah being too ditzy and giggly but I wasn't this episode. Lauren is so amazing when she's still... if that makes sense

Haddie is kind of growing on me now.

Thanks for the music list Craig *runs off to add to Spotify playlist*

Loved the Sarah and Drew scenes and wished we had some each episode, preferably with Amber, too, lol.

I like Joel and Julia much more now since they fleshed out Joel's character (him and Zeek were great again) and made Julia a bit warmer, imo.

I really liked the Crosby scenes with Renee and Gabby. Wish Jasmine hadn't come back like that. It was only supposed to be four weeks, not four months! If you already commit, then you don't just leave a dance company mid tour like that and I don't think it fit her character to do it, either.

I also wished the dinner dates, which turned into an awkward foursome had much more to it. That's the kind of more adult scenes they need, imo.

Can't say enough how much I love those whole family scenes and this time it was way too short. I wish they had a full episode of just that, a big family scene, camera moving between different corners and interactions throughout.

I have a problem with continuity. Again with Sarah's clothes - either she wears the exact same outfits two days in a row, God forbid, lol (as everyone already saw last episode, as well) or Drew and Molly met really early before school (and work for Sarah) to work on their project... Also, didn't Crosby already mention doing his laundry at Adam's last week? And Kristina tells Adam Suze told her of the 80% divorce rate "this morning" when it was obviousy the morning before, on Sunday. Lots of little details that kind of annoy me a bit when it happens. I apologize for the nitpicking, but it's family, so I allow myself to be frank.

Finally, Gabby has a nice car, lol.

ETA - Caitlin, agree completely on how Lauren's amazing when "still" and also the wish for more Seth history. I also wish we get to hear/see more than we have so far about it and how painful it was on all.

ETA II - This review of the episode is pretty well written, IMO.

Okay so. On one hand I thought this episode was way better than the rest of the season, but on the other hand I think they missed out. I completely loved every scene between Sarah and Drew. Those are the moments that make this show to what it is. It was so touching! And I'm really glad there was more Drew in it.

On the other hand I also think they should have showed the date scene more. That could have been so great and so hilarious. Definitely a missed chance. And I wonder if Mike already new there that Adam is Sarah's brother.

And finally a family dinner again. I missed those! I hope those family events will be back in the upcoming episodes!

Oh, also loved the Haddie/Sarah interaction even though it was short. Hopefully we will see more of it soon.

As much as I'm not into Joel, I kind of liked the scene at the school. I loved how the teacher saw him as some kind of miracle, why moments before he saw himself as nothing.

One thing I thought was kind of lame is that they gave Vanessa Marano a science project. Maybe I'm looking into it too much, but in my opinion it was kind of lame lol.
