Nice interview and I agree it's very Lauren not to have seen the pilot, we can only guess she has see the movie at some point over the last 20 years?

Good they are writing it to suit Lauren and moving away for what they might have done with Maura, time will tell how it works, can't wait for more news/spoilers over the coming months...

ETA - I just realised the interview starts off "Lauren Graham returns to TV in January...." so does this mean they will air the pilot before the winter games? or is it just TV talk to make it sound sooner than the predicted launch in March?

Networks are splitting some shows around the Olympics so maybe NBC will show the pilot as a teaser in Jan or Feb before the season proper (12 more eps) in March/April/May?

I just bought the movie today at TJMaxx for $4.99. I haven't seen it yet, and I figured at that price I might as well buy it! I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch it and go into the series with preconceived notions, but I'm caving.

Claire - I think the movie will tell you nothing about the serie storywise. I think just the members of the family and the theme will be the same. Nothing spoilery I guess.

ITA Katka and from the little we do know the plot is different in the series than the movie but the characters are a guide to what the TV show will be like.

I think those of you watching the original movie for the first time will enjoy it. And naturally, even if the series followed the original plots closely, it has so much more time to explore it all than a 90 minute movie.

Budge, lol, is that his character's nickname on the show? And the plan was to only reshoot the Sarah parts, wasn't it?
