Parenthood - 1x06 - "The Big O" Episode Discussion

Episode 6
The Big O

Quote:
Parenthood "The Big O" Episode 6 Synopsis: Kristina's (Monica Potter) constant worrying affects her and Adam's (Peter Krause) sex life, and the worrying only gets worse when Max (Max Burkholder) starts working with Gaby (guest star Minka Kelly), a young behavioral aide. Sarah (Lauren Graham) debates whether she should go out on a date with Amber's (Mae Whitman) teacher Mr. Cyr (guest star Jason Ritter). Meanwhile, Crosby (Dax Shepard) tries to muster up the courage to tell his parents about Jabbar (Tyree Brown) and Julia (Erika Christensen) gets jealous of a mom in Joel's (Sam Jaeger) playgroup. Craig T. Nelson, Bonnie Bedelia, Sarah Ramos, Miles Heizer and Savannah Paige Rae also star.

Mr. Cyr and Sarah might be the cutest thing ever. And i'm glad Craig and Bonnie were actually in this episode and said more than two words. I really like them. I thought the PK/MP scenes were SO awkward and the episode could have done without them. Other than that and the fact that it needed more Lauren, it was a solid episode.

I have to be honest here. I found this episode to be pretty boring. So much Dax and Erika, so little Lauren. I guess this answers the question I've been asking myself- would I watch this show if Lauren wasn't on it? I really would not.

That being said, I did really enjoy Lauren's scenes. I liked her scene with Dax and I really liked her scenes with Jason Ritter.

I thought this episode would be really funny considering the name and the subject matter, but it really was only funny for that one scene between Adam and Sarah.

Still, I hope the ratings are good and I'm looking forward to next week.

ETA: Oh yeah, Minka Kelly was just annoying! LOL

Amanda, I agree. PK and MP don't have much chemistry, imo.

I feel like every episode has way too much Julia and not enough Sarah. I think Julia is the most annoying character in PH, more annoying to me than Raquel. I thought Peter and Lauren would get the most screen time since they get top billing but I guess not. Oh well, Lauren gets paid more and works less so I guess she wins in the end

Loved the episode, the drama in it was so well-written and they did a great job of moving a ton of plotlines forward. I really enjoyed the performances of all the actors and Jabbar meeting the grandparents was perfect.

Adore Sarah and Mr. Cyr. Deeply.

See, the thing is . . . 1. She IS in this show. 2. I wouldn't have watched GG without Lauren (it more than likely wouldn't have survived w/out Lauren) - she owned that show and it would not have worked quite the same without her (just ask a capable actress like Parker Posey who couldn't properly handle ASP's dialogue).

I FULLY support this show, and I think that is critical right now. There needs to be a positive fanbase saying, "We want more." I SO want more.

I liked the episode. It's not my favorite one, but it was still enjoyable.

Lauren and Jason are adorable together.

This is the first episode where I've liked Crosby and Julia the whole time.

The "O" discussion between Adam and Sarah was great, although I had already seen most of it. My favorite part was when Amber walked in during their discussion and they tried to make it seem as if they were talking about something else. Not sure that Amber bought it. [And I cannot even imagine my brother bringing up that subject with me - I guess we have a different relationship than Adam and Sarah.]

It was nice to have Camille and Zeek appearing together and for more than just a few moments.

No, at first she responded with "it's complicated", but then I believe she agreed to go out with him.

I like that in the preview for next week we see that Sarah tells Amber. I would've hated it if she did this secretly.

I think the who Lauren quantity debate is a little skewed here since this is a Lauren thread.

OT - how is it the *cough* is up just minutes after the ep aired or am I getting the time zones mixed up with DLS. Is it just after 11pm on the East coast right now?

Thank you for answer my question because I was little confusing about it..

I'm looking forward to see how she going to tell Amber that it was her teacher and wondering what's her reaction to it..

I'm not sure if that is directed at me but I was just being honest with what I said. As for supporting the show, I guess I support Lauren and thereby the show. I watch it every week and will continue to do so. I will buy the dvd when it comes out. But yeah, I was disappointed with this week's episode. I don't think it's wrong to say so.

No, and nobody ever said it was.

Amanda, I completely agree with this. But it's an ensemble and I guess we have to deal with it.

And yeah, I'm happy that Lauren is happy with the show and the freedom she has with it.
