Val, it's nice that Jay's sister will stop by! He must be happy to have lots of family visiting so far.

It's supposed to rain here for the next week (thanks to Tropical Storm Joaquin), which I'm not thrilled about.
It is really nice. I think she'll be the last one for a while, but still, I'm happy he gets to see them.

We're starting our lindy hop class tonight. I hope there's an equal number of girls and guys so we can dance together, but I don't think so. We'll rotate.

Thanks for the new thread, Val!

Your lindy hop class sounds like a lot of fun.

It is! I mean, right now we're awkward and such, but I'm hoping we'll get better! Plus they do 4 nights of free dancing every week, so once we get a little less awful we'll try and exercise more.

Why did you choose this dance, Vale? I prefer waltz and polka

Any plans for the weekend? Dave´s sister is 30 this Sunday so we have some family lunch tomorrow.

Waltz and polka (at least here) are very much for old people here.
Lindy hop is full of young people, and it's all with jazz/swing music, which I love.

We're celebrating my nephew's birthday Sunday as well! He turns 3 tomorrow, but we're doing the party on Sunday. Jay and I are making the cake, and I'll share a pic if (hopefully) it turns out alright. The weather here is rainy all weekend, which sucks, but at least I'm not working!

Val, the cake you made looked fabulous! How was the party?
The Lindy looks like fun to me.

This week seems to be going by really slowly so far.

The party was fun, to be a 3yo party. He really liked the cake, dropped his toy the second he saw the cake!
I agree, this week is going slowly. We're going to Expo this weekend though.

Nice! Have fun at the Expo.

I'm skipping school tomorrow (sshhhh) to go to New York Comic Con, and we don't have school on Monday for Columbus Day, so I'm excited about having a long weekend now!

Claire - long weekend sounds great, have fun!

Vale - Enjoy Expo and tell us how it was

We are going to opera with Dave´s great aunt tomorrow. We are seeing Rigoletto. It is not really my thing so I hope it is short or something. lol

Rigoletto is fun!! I saw it a few years ago. But I also understand Italian, so maybe it was easier for me.
Claire, that's so cool that you have a 4-days weekend! I'm off tomorrow as well. Last year Jay and I were in NY around Comic Con time (remember?) and there were a lot of people dressed up in the streets.

I've seen Rigoletto too and also liked it, and I'm not a huge opera fan or anything. Enjoy!

Val, enjoy your day off! I do remember that last year; at first we were confused about why so many people were dressed up.

Nice. Are you allowed to do that as a teacher? lol Have fun at Comic Con.

Katka - I thought constantly of you at work today cause German google celebrates 605 years of prague's astronomical clock today

Not much going on in my life rigth now. Since I moved up at work I'm working even more but I love it. But I slowly I feel that I need vacation, only had 7 vacation days so far this year. But long vacation days are coming up luckily.

Cool! What are you planning for your long vacation? It's really great that you love your job, it certainly makes the long hours easier. It's the same for me.
I attempted a NY cheesecake for a dinner with friends tonight but I'm afraid I don't know our new oven very well.

I'm flying home to my parents place for a week, my dad celebrates his 60th birthday in November and then I will go to New York and Washington.

I'm making a video for my dad's birthday and my mom is sending me all those old pics I've never seen of my dad and some are hilarious, he looked like a spy back in the 80s. (maybe he was )

Vale - I hope your cake is tasty

Only if I don't get caught. And it was fun! I was mostly there for OUAT and I was in the front row, which made me happy. Then I went to The Walking Dead premiere at MSG, which was really cool. We watched the new episode and then they brought the whole cast out for a panel and some fun shenanigans (including lots of former cast members).

Ele, you've definitely got a great vacation to look forward to!
It's funny to see old photos of your parents, isn't it?

Val, I hope your cheesecake turned out!
