![]() This might be off topic but I wish Lauren had picketed with the WGA people. It would have been a great way to make contact with writers! She would be picketing and approaching writers at the same time asking “Hey, any new ideas for a 30 minutes TV comedy?” ![]() __________________ He's hers, already.

| Hello folks, I hope you don´t mind I bring in my new Lauren column. Thanks to Copop for translating and Ed for profreading. Enjoy! Those people A look at the calendar reveals a shocking event coming up: Christmas! Of course this comes not totally unexpected, but weren’t we just lying with sunglasses by the sea, sweating in 107 F degree weather? And now again – Christmas! So, like every year I sit down, make a list, who should/would/could/must be given a present and then a budget is settled on. Then the simple equation: “Budget” divided by “people receiving gifts” And the next shock comes crashing down: the disproportion: either too many people or too little budget! Next step: budget discussion with chairman of budget; budget is raised (with gritted teeth) and then the most important step: the gifts are defined. What do “those people” who don’t have problems with the budget do? And, even better: What do “those people” give? With “those people” I mean celebrities and stars; do they also sit down and make a list: who and what and how much? Let’s pick a person we know, let’s pick Lauren Let’s assume she doesn’t have to adjust her budget according to the people she gives gifts to and let’s assume further the majority of the people she presents are in a similar situation; in this case we logically ask next: what do you get for someone who can buy anything they want? Almost immediately tears full of emotion pool in my eyes, because I become aware of the fact that “those people” are in the lucky, lucky situation to give NON-substantial presents. Just imagine, Lauren gives a lunch or dinner with her and promises NOT to answer her cell or to check for text messages the whole time! So to say, her undivided attention. The most valuable gift ever: her time! Or you give a walk and you DON’T talk about yourself the first 25 minutes. What precious presents are theses things, given by “those people” who are used to talking about themselves, always and everywhere, or are accustomed to be the center of attention the second they appear in public? But what do “those people” do if they are friends with “normal” people? Such people like me, who have to make a list and who have to express their appreciation through more or less nice, intelligent, funny or sometimes useful gifts? Now, if I give a lunch or dinner with me and promise not to touch my cell, some of my friends would just shrug and deadpan that nobody ever calls me anyway. With this discussion going on the question arises how “normal” people can be friends with “those people” without feeling inadequate? Though joking around, I am convinced one has to be a very confident person to be friends with “those people”. And that “those people” could grow oblivious at the effort the “normal” one is making. For example: while I twist my mind, go shopping, fight about wanted item with three other customers, win the battle and finally reach the register, edged and hurt, pay and try to wrap the gift “beautifully” with my two left hands at home; “those people” make a call and send their assistant to get something and enjoy the warm sun by a pool in California. I asked myself several times how it feels like to hang out together, Ms “Nobody” with Ms “Oh-you’re-I-love-your-show”. I imagine it to feel pretty hard with time. Or are “normal” people the better ones? Stand above such things, steady, calm, even; ok with themselves and the world around them? Or are “those people” trained to being with “normal” people? Give compliments now and then, make sure to appreciate the presence of the other and that it is no problem at all to be friends with somebody who is only able to spend $7 for a Christmas present, because it’s the thought that counts? Maybe this is the true gift, from “normal people” to “those people”, that they are always there, no matter if without a Porsche, diamond rings or a house with 25 rooms in it. And maybe the greatest gift for “those people” is to hang out with “normal” people and their cell isn’t ringing at all although it could if someone would call. I think I wouldn’t be inadequate for “those people”. On that note, I wish everyone a lucky choice with their gifts this year and maybe there should be considered “No cell phone”-areas. copyright Koile 2007, translation by Copop __________________ | |||

Anyways, I am back from my 4 day trip to NYC. I was in Soho, Canal, Little Italy, Manhatten, Queens etc. Basically all over. No lauren Well I didn't really expect to get lucky enough to walk or bump into her. Afterall I wasn't really trying to spot anyone famous. I was too busy trying to find me a knockoff Coach bag (and yes I succeeded lol)! Glad to be back! __________________ *Joy* ![]() 3-26-08 The day I finally met Lauren Graham!!!

| Thanks Nadine, I remember the sides you left. It's good to have more news, now I hope the strike ends soon, I'd really like to see something developed for Lauren on her NBC deal, even though time has been lost, but like Ele said, if she teamed up with Tina Fey I'd (w'ed all) be jumping for joy! ![]() __________________ avi by Ele | |||

![]() Yeah maybe I'll catch up with her some other time. My cousin's hubby works in a store across the street from Bergorf Goodman (which is an upscale part of NY) and he is a security guard who encounters celebs all the time so I told him to keep an eye on Lauren (although he has no clue who she is) LOL __________________ *Joy* ![]() 3-26-08 The day I finally met Lauren Graham!!!

| Thanks for 'The Dream of the Romans" news, Nadine. With the description (“A reclusive writer and a chiropractor fall in love, healing themselves and a recovering alcoholic in the process.”) it seems the chiropractor/Elizabeth role could be quite significant - character and screen time wise. Even the sides, which were for "Kris" had quite a bit of "Elizabeth" in them. Regarding the NBC Universal deal - I wonder if any contingencies were put on that with regards to the strike, since I'm sure the parties involved were fully aware it was likely to happen. Perhaps a year's deal is a full 12 months of work/development, therefore as long as the strike continues, that time is not taken into account as part of the year. ![]() __________________ the CANOE and the KAYAK Sign Petition For More Gilmore Girls | |||
