Lauren Graham Newsstand - Emmy or what?

But that category-changing gambit doesn't always pay off. "Gilmore Girls"" has been entered in both comedy and drama -- and neither have resulted in a nomination.

Co-star Lauren Graham thinks "Gilmore" has a more dramatic feel and that, even though it hasn't had much luck with Emmys, feels that putting it into a comedy category is disingenuous and not where the series belongs.

"When someone makes you laugh, it doesn't make you feel like when an actor makes you cry," Graham says.

That the show airs on the WB network -- soon to become the CW -- also seems to tinge voters' perceptions about content as well as quality. Geared toward the 18-34 crowd, the WB never had a show nominated for drama or comedy.

[Lauren Graham, Scrubs Score TCA Nods!
The Television Critics Assoc. (of which I'm a member) just came out with its 2006 TCA Award nominations and, save for the Battlestar Galactica snub, it's a pretty fraktastic lineup. I'm especially jazzed that after years of checking off Lauren Graham's name, our girl finally made the cut. Ditto Scrubs. With any luck, both will prevail on July 23 when the trophies are handed out. (FYI: If the TCA brass are reading this, I've got dibbs on presenting Lauren with her award if she wins. C'mon, it's a no-brainer.) A list of the major nominees are below. See if you can guess who I'm voting for.

INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT IN COMEDY
Steve Carell (The Office)
Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report)
Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls)
Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl)
Jon Stewart (The Daily Show)

Thanks for the new thread, Lovely Lauren!

Bringing this over from the previous one, because I posted it too late:

Oh, shucks...I hate registering myself to death on the web. I'm an anonymous lurker at heart. Hoping maybe someone kindly brings it over when the time comes....

Hope LG also finds time, despite the EA delays, to do some late night shows to get some pre Emmy publicity. Maybe those NYC shows are a pssibility, being not too far from where she's filming at the moment.

gjoni if I hear anymore about the interview I'll bring it over, but since I put the link on that previous thread, it's free game now of what people want to do with the info.

Regarding interviews. According to the Late Night TV Schedule, she's not scheduled to appear on any talk shows in the next month. And then after that she should be back in LA to finish up on EA since they've been reporting in the Va newspapers that there's only a few more weeks of Va filming left of the movie.

That being said someone from GG will have to be on hand to accept the Gracie Award the show won for Best Comedy Series which will be handed out mid-June. Though it would crack me up if Amy accepted it since it is an award honouring women

Thank you, Nadine for trying to take such good care of us addicted CIPs, in the news department! It sometimes must feel like a burden, but I won't take you for granted, ever.

Too bad about the late night shows, because as far as I read, the Emmy nominations are announced on July 6th, now is the time to start doing the publicity rounds for that, IMHumbleO. Maybe she'll go on after she's nominated, to help with the win...

And could it be that I missed out on some news? The Gracie Awards?

Thanks for the new thread.

I was hoping Lauren would have time for Letterman while in that part of the world (well a lot closer than LA)

Good to see the show getting some recognition and Lauren Graham.

Thanks for posting the TCA nom, gossipcom! 4 of those 5 noms I watch on a weekly/daily basis, and 1 I am going to see live next Friday night. I wish they could have a 4 way tie between Lauren, Steve, Stephen and Jon!

They are an awards ceremony presented by the American Women in Radio and Television.

From the AWRT website. here's the link http://www.awrt.org/press-releases/2...%20Winners.pdf

Quote:
The Gracies are presented by the Foundation of AWRT, the philanthropic arm of AWRT that supports educational programs, charitable activities, public service campaigns and scholarships to benefit the public, the electronic media and allied fields. The Gracie Allen Awards, established in 1975, honor programming and individuals of the highest caliber in all facets of radio, television, cable and web-based media, including news, drama, comedy, commercials, public service, documentary, and sports

“The Gracies statue is so much more than an award. It represents how far women have come in media." -AWRT President
Lol, I think it's kind of ironic how their headquarters are in McLean, VA
