I adore this episode. Everything about it is perfect!
The ending, when Lorelai gives Luke the hat, and then they watched the Christmas parade. This is the exact moment, I fell in love with GG. And everytime I watch this part, it gives me so many feels. 'It's hard to imagine living somewhere else, isn't it?' Season 1, is definitely my favourite season. It defined the whole show, IMO. __________________

Today (Saturday 11/28) we're moving on to our final episode of season 1: 1.14 "That Damn Donna Reed." Watch the episode this week, share your thoughts, and share your thoughts on season 1 before we move into season 2! (Kizzy, season 1 is my favorite, too. )

I watched Forgiveness and Stuff, and That Damn Donna Reed today.
Here's my thoughts while watching. Forgiveness and Stuff: Patty says “Who else in town is knocked up”, cut to Rory holding the baby doll, a throwback to the previous episode where Lorelai and Emily fight that Rory will get pregnant. Lorelai voluntarily eats Salad! Santa Burger, one of my favorite parts. Luke is so sweet when he wants to be. You always look good. Love L/L flirting at the hospital. Emily demanding to go first, is so sad. Miss Ed Herrmann I loved Emily calling Luke a damn fool. She knew before everyone. The looks between Richard and Lorelai are so meaningful. They say more with looks than words. Ah, the infamous blue hat! Love the flirting. That Damn Donna Reed I don’t spruce. Oh Luke, you'll change your mind. Painting songs! The couple watching Lorelai talk about paint, are looking very amused at her and Luke’s conversation. Loved Luke and Lorelai’s talk in the diner about dads. And then, the near kiss! The Emily and Lorelai conversation about Luke, getting Lorelai to admit she might have feelings for Luke, then Emily tearing her down. That says so much about why Lorelai doesn't trust Emily. And Lorelai want fruit. Just like her eating salad in a previous episode. Ugh, Christopher. __________________

I heart season 1 so much!
Forgiveness and Stuff An episode packed with so much emotion, yet beautifully balanced with cute, funny moments... GG is always able to do that so well. Santa burger... Every single L/L scene in this episode is perfect... their chat in the diner, in the truck, in the hospital ("so, I said you look good..."), the hug, the hat gifting .... It's a beautiful for ep for them. The Emily and Richard scene in the hospital room, like others have pointed out, is even more emotional to watch now. Just a beautiful, touching scene. Very sweet Lorelai and Richard moment. A show that is known for its words can also convey SO much in moments without them. That Damn Donna Reed It's a show? It's a lifestyle... it's a religion. Sums up Gilmore Girls for me. Just hearing/seeing the title of this episode makes my L/L loving heart go pitter-patter... such an adorable episode for them. All of their scenes are so great. Love the painting song! So adorable. Love that she convinces him to spruce. Who else could have such power over him? Their scene in the diner while picking out paint colors is fun and sweet. Gave us a little insight into Luke and how the diner came to be. Plus... the AlmostKiss! "Oh, you really do have a chick loose in the house?" haha. Oh, Luke. Sorry to disappoint you. Lorelai seeing Rory in her Donna Reed outfit is hilarious... love the mockery. The Friday night dinner scenes are cute, with Emily and Richard getting their rental house, and then Lorelai/Emily talking about Luke. I remember when the episode first aired, being soooo excited about Lorelai admitting "Maybe I do" about having feelings for Luke, and then thinking that was going to be some sort of turning point for them! lol... not quite, still had to wait 4 more seasons to see it go into effect. But.. worth the wait. Last edited by Stack; 09-27-2016 at 09:37 AM |

Ele and I are watching "That Damn Donna Reed" now. It's nice to have another fan to watch with!
I want another verse of the painting song. Friday night dinner scenes are my favorite. Apricot is adorable! STELLLAAAA! Oh, Luke, not realizing there was actually a loose chick. Did Rory actually have that Donna Reed dress just lying around? And how did she have the time to cook that complex dinner? The awkward backyard meeting between the two couples is hilarious. I love that Lorelai brings her own snacks to FND. Emily is sooo good at badgering Lorelai, but she's also very insightful. __________________

Here's the proof that we really watched it
Boy, is Dean boring, I couldn't care less about him and his opinions. This episode has a lot of awesome LL moments. The one in the diner is clearly my favourite. Too bad Taylor interrupted it. Also Lorelai is really clueless about Luke's feelings. He looked like he would kiss her any second. Sigh. Could have saved us 4 seasons. The parallels between Luke and Dean taking out the trash are awesome. Also Emily's interrogations are the best. Only she could Lorelai made to admit that she may have feelings for Luke. __________________

Wow, that was harder than I thought to narrow down... certain eps in S2 I really love the Lorelai/Rory dynamic, and certain eps reel me in with the L/L scenes.
