I have two interpretations for this:

Or she didn't love the show anymore ..and so decided to leave
Or she regretted that she left her show, allowing DSR to ruin it, and now she doesn't want to do this again with her new show. She wants to treat it right

Or maybe it's neither one, and she just said that without actually thinking about GG..
which I think is very possible.

what I heard is that she wanted a two year contract...one to finish up GG (for season 7) and another year to develop a NEW show. But since the network wasn't going for the idea that's when she through her hands up, became bitter, and screwed up GG.

ASP was a great writer. She proved that in atleast the first 4 seasons but her plots...come on. She let Rory sleep with a married Dean, she let Rory and Lorelais relationship get twisted in S6 and go on way too long (even lauren said she hated those episodes), she brought in April to screw things up, she let Lorelai sleep w. Christopher!! She may have had great humor in her writing skills but many plots were just over the top.

And as far as DSR is concerned. Yeah I don't think he needed to drag out the marriage (nor do I think they needed to even be married) but I can see why he did what he had to do. Like Lauren had stated. Sometimes you need things to go a bit array for the show to work. People are either going to love it or hate it but you can't please everyone.

ASP should of just stuck it out. This was her creation and a great one at that but she let it go down the tubes without a second thought. It's like abandoning your child bc your not happy with the decisions they're making in life. If you love something so much you should stick by it and not care about anything else that interfers with it. To me it was a copout.

I am sure her new show will be witty, funny, and wonderful but I personally will not tune in. Because for me I feel as though as a GG fan she screwed me over! I don't blame Rosenthal and neither should she. He had to fix HER MESS and got a lot of flack in the meantime by many fans. The person who deserves the blame is Amy and I really no longer have much respect for her.
