Air date: 3 May 2005

Writer(s): Bill Prady & Rebecca Rand Kirshner
Directors: Jamie Babbit

"How Many Kropogs To Cape Cod" - (TV-PG) (HDTV)
Tuesday , May 03 2005 Fresh Episode
8:00 - 9:00 PM ET

RORY ENTERS THE NEWSPAPER WORLD - Wanting to make a good impression on Logan's (Matt Czuchry) powerful father, Mitchum Huntzberger (guest star Gregg Henry), Rory (Alexis Bledel) learns everything she can about him before starting work as an intern at one of his newspapers. When Lorelai (Lauren Graham) learns that Emily (Kelly Bishop) and Richard (Edward Herrmann) have invited Logan to Friday night dinner, she ends her boycott of family gatherings in order to get to know Logan better. During the evening, Emily and Richard fawn over Logan, but Lorelai sees a side of him that causes her to worry about Rory's involvement with the Huntzberger family. Meanwhile, Lorelai gets an interesting job offer, and Luke (Scott Patterson) tries to talk Taylor (Michael Winters) into closing the Stars Hollow museum. Melissa McCarthy and Liza Weil also star. The episode was written by Bill Prady & Rebecca Rand Kirshner and directed by Jamie Babbit.

Wow.. this has got to be the lowest point in the charts of JJ interaction for Season 5...
One diner scene and one dinner scene... I dunno what to say.

Oh Man this eppisode pissed me off. I hated the way they treated Lorelai I would not have enven treated my worst enemy as bad as Emily did to her. And i am starting to not like Logan Agin come on there was no reason for him to steel. And what was with sookie saying Lorelai had nothing not keeping her from traveling what about Luke. Ok OK I did like the eppy but it just pissed me off.

I swear it's like they've taken every good element of the show, sucked it's soul dry until an empty shell was left, and that's what the last 3 episodes have been.

This is SWEEPS!? I'm dumbstruck.

I wish I could say that I've come to accept the fact that the show doesn't resemble its previous self whatsoever, but I haven't.

I don't know what I'm more disappointed with -- that I was incomparably thrilled and excited this time last year with regards to the last couple episodes which doesn't at all reflect how I feel now, or the fact that the show has become so unrecognizable to the point that I hope there will not be a 7th season.

Lauren took some mediocre lines and delivered them with golden sarcasm and deadpan. "My sister, my daugter" at Luke's Soft Shell Crab with Somethingsomething Amandine dinner.

"Have you lost your mind?" [sways back and forth] "No, no, still sloshing around up there." Emily, seriously, you might wanna ask yourself that same question.

And that sweater conversation? I wasn't following it that closely, but it definitely was no "Your boobs are totally bigger than mine!"

Last week's ep was the highlight out of the last 3 eps - this week's one as much as I like the separate storylines - they just didn't mesh well together.

I'm hoping by some miracle the Palladinos can fix this up in the next two weeks.

ETA: See this is what happens when you pair two writers up in the case of RRK and BP - I swear this ep had Bill Prady written all over it moreso than RRK.

I feel like the voice/tone of the show has changed completely. Like, the way the characters deliver the lines, Alexis, definitely. It's become more forced-funny at times and that makes me wince. And it's not a "this season thing".. it's more of a "ever since the end of the long hiatus" thing. Lauren is still the same type of fantastic though, she's funny when she needs to be and makes us feel uncomfortable (hello! the entire Friday Night Dinner) when she needs to... sometimes I think it's the lines she has to say that makes it seem unnatural, at least to me.

The opening, though, was classic.

wow this episode was weird in a boring kind of way! But Lauren was great.
I'm usualy so excited by a new episode and wait to read the description and all and yesterday I fall asleep!!
Now I watched the episode I have to say I feel so bad and sad when I saw Emily threating Lorelai like a stranger! how dare she?

And don't let me start with Luke and Lorelai !!! are they really in a relationship?Cause I don't feel this like a relationship!
Where is the sexual tension and all the teasing we had in the begining when they weren't together? Where is the fire?

I'm depressed

The opening was fine but what came after the opening??? Man, the show was barely what I remembered it to be. I mean, no Lorelai fast talking at all. Lauren Graham barely said much actually which is the strangest part of it all! Now I didn't mind the lack of L/L since I know it's an episode focused on Rory/Logan but man, I really don't like Logan. Not only this, I really disliked Rory in this episode.

Emily is Emily. She's always been one I never liked and I really hate her treatment of her daughter. She claims to want to be close to her daughter and then treats her like dirt. Now that she's close to Rory, she feels that she doesn't need to be close to her daughter, she can close to her granddaughter and is only so because Rory is doing everything Lorelai never did.

However, my dislike of Rory comes from the fact of her watching Emily treat her mother this way. When has she ever really allowed that to happen, even in front of guests? To anyone really. I mean, she brought Dean and blew up at them when they treated him badly. After Rory leaves, it's Lorelai who is tellign her parents off about Rory and Logan! I mean, honestly, Rory should have said something about their treatment of Lorelai. Good grief.

I don't know, I was really annoyed.

Well, looks like ASP is really planning on f#@king all the characters up and that means f$#king the audience up as well.

Anyway, we'll give the show another 2 more episodes before we start to throw stones...

Apart from the drought of L/L interaction I have to say that Lauren is really a great actress, she can really carry the show... She deserves to win an Emmy! Damn DH people...

Damn right about those damn DH people - one thing's for sure if Kelly submits this ep she'll have a chance of a nom in the Supporting Actress cat - because that's one positive out of the dodgy sweep of DH into the lead actress because of SatC ending there's spaces open in the Supporting Actress cat

Caps

I rewatched the scenes when capping - and two scenes really stood out in terms of LG - the one where she rang Emily and just couldn't say anything - watch her expressions (facial) in that scene - and of course the FND showdown with her parents - the audience knows everything she said there was truth, but her parents just didn't want to hear it.

And the whole job offer thing has my heart all ready to

ok ..thank god that Vera and I made this deal about having no expectaitons in the show whatsoever.. sorry but this episode was boring .. ok it had soem nice lines in it .. and sometimes I almost hat to laugh at some sentences .. but what about luke and lorelai .. now they arent even touching anymore? Rory and Logan are kissing and all this stuff and with Luke and lorelai you dont even get the idea that those two are a couple.. there were almost no scenes with those two

the dinner scene .. I hated the way emily treated lorelai.. Emily should behave .begging lorelai for forgivnes.. not the other way around .. Lorelai did nothign wrong .. she told her to shut up.. okay ..but emily deserved it

Haha, yeah Suz, we were smart enough to lower our expectations of the show...
But deep down inside, there's still a little hope.. For something...

Seriously, there was just so much JJ interaction before the hiatus and all that I think we JJs were all kinda spoilt. And now when we get nothing, we are all suffering from withdrawal symptons...

But really aside from that negative aspect, Lauren Graham is a great actress.
