LOVE AND WAR –— Rory (Alexis Bledel) is delighted when the headmaster (guest star Dakin Matthews) of her old prep school asks her to play hostess to a young student, Anna (guest star Sara Foret), who is thinking of applying to Yale. However, Anna turns out to be more interested in boys than academics and runs off to party, leaving Rory to deal with Logan’s (Matt Czuchry) elaborate practical jokes. Meanwhile, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Luke (Scott Patterson) have their first fight when she accidentally upsets him by buying an old boat that had belonged to his father. Edward Herrmann, Melissa McCarthy, Liza Weil, Sean Gunn and Liz Torres also star. Amy Sherman-Palladino wrote the episode directed by Michael Zinberg

Now this was a top notch ep - bloody brilliant.

Can I just say I think we've found a contender for the episode of the season - "But Not As Cute As Pushkin" had everything and was brilliant - the only thing that was missing was Emily!

Instead of getting a FND with Emily we got one of Richard - I love that Lorelai brought up limo guy regarding Logan - nice touch there.

Luke and Lorelai and their first fight - the emotion in that fight - granted it wasn't a heated fight like TMT - but it was definitely their first fight - and Lorelai was the first person who Luke told about his father's death *sigh* I can so see him working on that boat in the future.

And the makeup scene - see that is a scene I loved - it was simple and sweet - if it was a soap opera portraying that the follow-up scene would have been MMS - but since it was still Luke's dark day, we saw him with his father's boat deep in thought (most likely remembering his father).

On top of a fight we got the great flannel-shirt scene at the beginning - I'd like to know how many takes it took for them to get that right when Lorelai kicks the door shut with two plates of pie in her hand

Lauren and Scott's acting was top-notch tonight, even more so than normal.

Also have I said yet that I'm still digging Lauren's hair this season - darker a bit shorter look suits her perfectly.

loved the kiss in the end

the episode was lovely.. i adored all the lorelai stuff and that luke told her about his "dark day" he really loves her .. shes the first who knows what happened on this day.. he let her know ... tht was so cute.. but i felt so sad for luke.. i loved how lorelai bought the boat and how luke finally realized that lorelai did this for him.. not because ehs not listening .. but because she wanted him to keep his memories

Anybody noticed Lauren's dog making a special appearance during the scene with Mrs Thompson?

I think its her dog cause it looks like what the picture we've seen in the talkshow.. Another guy is walking it in the background..

Pretty cool that her dog gets to make a cameo appearance huh?

Oh okayz, but I always associated nanny's with women.. I don't know why. The only reason I noticed was because I saw the dog looking at Lauren very intently when it was doing its walk at the back.. Haha.. But I think Hannah is pretty well trained. She didn't run towards Lauren when she was doing her scene with Scott.

Lauren's stated in articles that her dog has a nanny / dog-walker - hence why it could have been them walking her *g*

Definitely noticed it looking towards Lauren - as you said at least she didn't run across the road - she probably got cautious since in the scene L&L are arguing on the street and well you know how dogs (especially German Shepherds) like to protect their owners

uh wow .. great pickup .. no I have to watch the episode again .. I didnt pay much attention at the Dog .. oh and yes German Shepherds are very protective

To be honest, I watched that scene at least 5 times and it didn't strike me that the dog behind was Hannah, or the fact that there was even a dog until today when I was re-watching it again.

Haha, I guess all our eyes are just fixed on LG and SP when they were doing their scene.

We can hear Hannah barking in the background also before she makes her scene.
But that dog is as cute as her owner. That's for sure. Beautiful dog, now we know what LG is so enamoured by it.

well lauren is cuter than the dog .. but yeah Hannah is really cute.. I love German shepherds .. not only because i´m german my aunt had a german shepherd .. I grew up with this dog .... they are protective and so lovely ...

Whoa..there is a dog in that scene? Man...I didn't even notice THAT, let alone that it could be Lauren's dog! And I was a film student...I should be paying attention to the entire frame. But I can't help it..when Lauren and Scott are on screen together, my attention is fixed on them. That reminds me of J&CF, when it took everyone multiple viewings to realize that the reason Luke went over to the cart was because a boy was dragging him to it.

Okok, Lauren is way cuter than the dog. Definitely!
But Hannah is so cute, she looks friendly and cuddly. I've seen some really ferocious German Shepherds and I normally stand ten feet away from them.
But she makes me want to go near her and pat her. I'm normally more biased towards cute toy dogs.
