Previous thread Lauren has signed onto the film "Birds of America" (formerly known as "The Laws of Motion") which will be released in 2008.   Anything with the words Laws of Motion refers to this film which has been renamed "Birds of America". Zoe Kravitz - Gillian (wife of Jay) Matthew Perry - Morrie (main character, brother of Ida and Jay and husband of Betty) Hilary Swank - Laura (next door neighbour) Stacie Theon - Ellen Thomas Gary Wilmes - Paul (married to Laura) Production Notes can be found here Premise: The story centres on a husband (Perry) struggling with life in a repressive career and community and enduring headaches caused by his free-spirited brother (Ben Foster) and sister (Goodwin). Swank will play a supporting role as the all-too-perfect neighbour of Perry's harried character. Sundance Description (Please do not duplicate pdf file anywhere else) In “normal” middle-class suburban families, kids grow up, move out, and visit only on special occasions. But Morrie Tanager never got to leave. His parents died and left him, and he became the parent, raising two siblings, Ida and Jay, in the home he now shares with his wife, Betty. So it’s not surprising this family is a bit askew. Ida is a promiscuous, broke, itinerant artist; Jay, an odd duck prone to antisocial experiments; and Morrie, a chronically constipated pleaser, who hasn’t had a bowel movement in ages. When Jay goes completely off the deep end and Ida drops in unannounced, the motley clan is thrust under one roof, and childhood dynamics reemerge. The big problem is that Ida and Jay’s recklessness could upend a delicate social ritual Morrie and Betty are masterminding to secure his tenure. Birds of America is about socialization and growing up when there are no grown-ups. For Jay it means living within social boundaries and telling an occasional lie; for Ida it’s accountability for her actions, whereas Morrie must learn to loosen codes, assert the naked truth, and release responsibility to others. Well this movie I'm doing right now is called "Laws of Motion.” It's an independent film that the playwright Craig Lucas is directing and Hilary Swank is a producer on it and has a supporting part in it just to lend her name to it. And that's really cool actually and inspiring to see an actress who has a company who is helping get stuff made because she believes in it. It's the story of a dysfunctional family and Matthew Perry is my husband and we have sort of a quiet marriage that is in trouble and his brother and sister come to stay with us to disastrous results. And it's just kind of a dark comedy, but it's a very conservative, preppy shut down character who is just trying to be nice to these people who she thinks are freaks. And so that's a cool kind of different place to be. | I really enjoyed the movie. I thought it was funny and sweet, without being sappy. I thought Matthew did a great job, and did Lasuren. And so did Ben and Ginnifer too. Of course I loved the Matthew/Lauren scenes, but really the whole movie was enjoyable. __________________ ~~christine~~ | |||

| Ele - I always thought they were waiting with kids until Morry gets the tenure at University, so they are financially secure, that´s why the "ass kissing" of the neighbours, the guy was a member of a board which decided about it. That´s why Betty was so upset when the dinner went wrong and left, cos it meant no tenure in the future, meaning no kids. __________________ | |||
