I decided to just post my play-by-play. So, this will be a long one -General thought: Did Lauren get to know her manager back then or did she get the role because they already had the same manager? -oh, there she is, in the opening credits -Oh! Little Ally in the car – is that Hallee Hirsch? As in Rachel Greene, Marc Greene’s daughter on ER? -Haha! Heard Lauren before I saw her Love her laugh and her hair! Sooo curly and short The name is cute. Jules, aw -I know Brian from Sweet Home Alabama. He looks weird somehow… -Rofl at Kate’s costume. Dorothy -Lol, Snow White costume. Love it. It looks just like in the cartoon -Omg, I just got it. Brian is Sherlock Holmes -Hee. A Mary Poppins is there, too -I realize I like Renee here much better than in her other movies… -Aaand yes, it IS Hallee Hirsch -Lol, fleeing from Disney characters -Aw, love the dance – and the song. But… where did Jules go? She was in the background, now she’s gone I guess she just let the family have their moment -Oh no, that was a big bomb George dropped there -Haha! I know the whole Amtrak and crowed platform thing -Oh, and the correct name is Ellen, so the short form is Ellie -The aura (is that the word?) of the house has changed. Well, it’s expected in this situation -So, Kate didn’t know Ellie is staying. Maybe this is the chance to grow closer again, though -Oh, approval of George by being asked to write the introduction -And there goes the feeling special again. Poor Ellie -Oh my goodness! Such a mess in the kitchen… and not a good one. Oh my^^ -Oh, not eatable food. Again poor Ellie. Or poor Kate, depending how you see it… -Kate seems so reluctant to show affection toward Ellie. I love she wants to change that with suggesting things Ellie might like -Oh, just the two of them… Duh, of course, or else they wouldn’t reconnect -Kate’s way of trying is counterproductive, though. Talking all the time and not discussing or talking to her daughter -Oh no. Ellie learning George is probably cheating. And his encouragement for her weren’t words only for her. Again, poor Ellie -Aha, Renee is left-handed. I knew that, just forgot^^ -Oh boy. The pain must be so bad. Meryl acts amazingly! -The nurse also left-handed, lol -Aw! If you can’t go to the restaurant, the restaurant will com to you. What a sweet idea Oy with the violin already, though… -Huh, choosing Mom over job. But I figure that’s ok -Haha. This Halloween thing looks awesome -*gasp* He IS cheating? Sure seems that way… -Huh, she’s covering for him. I think Kate knows, though… -Harold… who is he and why does he call in the middle of the night? -I have a suspicion George wants to distract Kate with all that extravagant gifts. From her illness and his misbehavior… -Ellie seems to have improved her cooking skills pretty much -Oh no! Now she missed the press conference. Bad -Hee, I assume that’s James Sullivan she’s talking to -Oh, epiphany. -So, it was Sullivan indeed -Woah. She gives up her job? Oh my, she must really love her mom after all -Huh. I hope Ellie spills her suspicions about George cheating -And she does… and he’s sending her back to NY. Confirmation much? -The Santa scene – at first cute and sweet but then so dramatic. I feel so sad for Ellie, having to watch her Mom fall apart like that -Oh, cool makeshift gift. Useful and pretty -General thought: Silent Night is one of my favorite Christmas Carols. Especially in English -Oh, now I remember. I definitely saw the movie from here on once. Jules being attacked by a snowball while climbing out of the cab^^ -Yeah, the phone call scene is familiar. But poor Ellie. Again. New girl for Jordan. Ugh -It must be so hard. Seeing somebody suffering more and more -Ha. I knew Kate knew. Oh, and there is the explanation why Kate talked so much in the book club... -So… he doesn’t cheat. Just drinking. Bad, but still better than cheating… Oh, and Harold was just covering for him. -Oh. Oh, I fear I know why Ellie is being interrogated here -I love how Jules is so supportive -Huh. So Ellie didn’t do it. Maybe George then? -Jordan. Oh my. Idiot -Oh, it really seems George did it -*gasp* She did it herself? But how? Like they said, she was so weak in the end -Aw. The One True Thing for him. I love that -I’m happy father and daughter found together again. Sadly something tragic had to happen first. It mostly is like that After all, I like the movie. Even Renee, because normally I don't like her that much. Everyone acted so great, especially Meryl. But, I don’t think I need to watch it again and again. __________________

I love play-by-plays. I'll definitely comment more after I watch. I don't want to read too much, because I want to watch again without anything in my head before-hand.

I just watched Nightwatch and we're already on a new movie! I have to catch up.
I wasn't so crazy about One True Thing the first time I saw it, but hopefully this time I'll enjoy it more. I'll be interested to read everyone's comments after I see it again. __________________

Nah, I didn't post about Nightwatch, but there's not much for me to say, anyway. Except that I think Josh Brolin is 10x hotter than Ewan McGregor.
I'll watch OTT this week so I can contribute to this discussion! __________________

Yay, I've received my One true Thing DVD, with the french production notes (I got it for only 0,90 €), so I'm going to participate this time
I couldn't watch The Nightwatch alone. I'm a chicken. __________________

I purposefully didn't read Kathrin's play by play until after watching the movie. Good stuff, Kathrin! Here's my version. It's kinda random so I hope it's not too boring.
- I love Lauren's hair here. - Brother cute. - Mom is loopy- a real flake. - Not liking Dad- asking Ellen to give up a lot. Not what a parent should do. - Love how Jules blows off Ellen's boyfriend at station. - Nice of Dad to prepare Mom for Ellen staying (sarcasm intended). - This movie is sooooo slooooow- move it along, folks. - Waiting for next Lauren scene... - Hating Dad some more- "wash and stitch my shirts"- Urgh! - Wishing Lauren was playing Ellen.. - Oh boy, that lunch was a disaster. Give Ellen credit for trying though. - Ewww... is Dad really doing his students? - Can't figure out Dad. Seems like a real jerk and then he does something so sweet in bringing the restaurant and movie to Mom. I'm with Kathrin though, lose the violin! - Step up and take the sabbatical, Dad. - Mom and Ellen bonding at the Halloween carnival. Nice. - Thanksgiving dinner. OMG, I want to squash that pompous Oliver guy! - Bar scene. Boyfriend is getting on my last nerve. Brother to rescue. - Darn! She missed the press conference. I hate that! - Way too long since Lauren's last scene. - Ellen telling Dad off outside cafe- Hallelujah! - How long is this movie? ZZZ... - Lauren's back! <wakes up> - Oh man, Ellen's wimping out in phone message to boyfriend. - Mom's having meltdown. About time. - Mom accepts cheating?! - Oh! Papa doesn't cheat. He's a lush. Ah-hah.. revelation. - Uh-oh. Who has Ellen been talking to throughout the movie? Stupid me, I thought he was a shrink. Not thinking that anymore... foreboding... - Honestly, I have never really been a big fan of Meryl Streep's movies, but she is a tremendous actress. "Please help me..". Uh-oh. - Ellen tearfully crushing the pills... and brushing them aside. - Bye-bye, Mom. - Gee, nice of boyfriend to show up for funeral (sarcasm intended). Dump him, Ellen! Yes! - I wonder why they even did an autopsy and discovered morphine overdose was cause of death. I mean, she was sent home to die. Why investigate more? - Dad and Ellen each thought other did it. Ha! Bravo to Mom for taking it into her own hands! - She was his "one true thing". The overall sentiment of this movie was very sweet, but the movie just dragged on for me. It really didn't pick up until the last 20 minutes or so. It was touching though, I'll give it that much. Like others have said, I don't think I'd watch it again. __________________

Yes, Dill Scallion is next I'm so looking forward to it.
Ok, I'm watching with an open mind... *repeats to self* Hey! THat little girl is Rachel on ER Renee isn't quite so squinty-eyed. That's good! I hear her laugh... and there she is in all her curly-haired glory Whenever I see her with Meryl I can't help but be like, "I wonder if she's FREAKING OUT inside" Hahah Dang unreceptive father. Be nice to your daughter's work! They're so precious. Dancing in the living room. She needs her husband to take care of her, silly!!! *sigh* "Hi Jules." "Hi. Bye" Hahaaha Hahahaah old school computers. I can't imagine being a writer. Look at his desk! So much English. Aww, so sweet. Writing his introduction. Aaaaand killed the mood with the chores. Oh, dad. *waits for Jules* lol Holy hell. She killed lunch. Bahahahaha hairspraying the napkins. What the hell is a mini?! *gasp* I think it just hit me how this ends! I had forgotten! I hope when I'm old, I still randomly rock out in the car. Even if it's too Bette Midler *gasp* Is he a cheater? I've forgotten this!! So sweet! He brought her the restaurant! Though, if he's a cheater that makes him even more of a bastard. Such a fun festival ruined by the lying cheater! Loool. Boob jokes Geez. They're guests don't seem very nice... This movie is really slow. I feel like I've been watching for hours. Is it sad that I feel like drunk!Renee is more what I'm used to with Renee? Hahaha Whats the point in wearing rubber gloves to clean the toilet if you're just going to touch the gross fingers when you take the gloves off?? Oooh, Confrontation! MMM, candy canes. I want one. Oh no! She's sick again! (wow. I really don't remember a lot) "I just wanna show off my new sweater" Adorable! I love Christmas carols! Lol Juuuule! LOL at the pay-phone scene. Ooh, I think its about to be the awkward family scene that I DO remember. Yeep! hahaa. 1988! Woo! I'm 2. I feel like that scene could have been a lot more intense than it was. "You make concessions when you're married a long time." Whaaat?! I'd cut his balls off before I made that concession. Meryl is fantabulous. Everybody is soooo sad. Understandably so. But still. Soooo sad. OOh crushing pills! That's bad! And a lot of them. I diiiid remember how this ends. Bahahaha. Jordan is an ass. So. wow. Such heavy subject matter. Good movie. Not one that I'll watch a bunch of times. It's really slow. Great acting, though Lauren was adorable. That's my random and long play-by-play. I'll have to read and comment on everyone else's later __________________
