It is not mandatory to include a note in your sig ("Avatar by ??") but recently people have been doing it. When we had the 45x45 avatars, I don't remember seeing those notes ever. Maybe now that the avatars are bigger and more gorgeous people want to give credit cos it seems fair, the avatars being the works of art they are.

But when you take an av that someone has made, it is very important to let them know that you're taking it, for example by saying "snagging" or something along those lines. The av makers want to know how much people like their work = snag the avs. It would be rude just to take them without saying anything.

Yes, that is good to do....but what I actually meant primarily when I said give credit when it's due that if you post avatars on this thread that you haven't made *yourself* please say who has made them, state that you didn't make them yourself and or ask the makers permission before you post them,

I think people shouldn't post avatars they haven't made themselves but if they really, necessarily want to do it, they should be sure to ask permission and credit, it's very important. And I understood what you meant, just wanted to add my two cents.
