Hayden talks about the role in the Vman Fall/Winter 2006 Issue

Quote:
MM What about Factory Girl?

HC It's a biopic about Edie Sedgwick; her real life story. I play this folk-star sort of guy who is based on Bob Dylan. My role was originally Bob Dylan, because they had an affair, but the film couldn't get the rights to use his name. So we couldn't use his name or any of his music, but essentially I'm playing Bob Dylan. I did a version of the voice and the mannerisms – sort of mumbling. I wrote a song sort of in the Dylan vein, which was very cool. I had to learn to play the guitar for the part.

Since this thread's almost up, I'll chat more about the movie in the new thread.

I've been thinking about my title ideas ...perhaps mine would be more appropriate for a couple's thread ...if you'd rather have it be all about Hayden's character, we could use yours, Steph. Glad you like that motorbike one. I'll let you decide which one to use, if that's alright.
I think the titles would work anyway. He was her love interest.
I put them up as future titles.

Thank you for setting up the new thread, Stephanie.

Your comments from the previous thread...

Quote:
I loved the scene with Andy. That was thee highlight! He sure made an ass out of Andy. And yes Hayden did burn up the screen. SO sexy.
That scene was so amazing! I actually enjoyed seeing Andy squirm like that...Hayden was spectacular, those lines just seemed to come so naturally. It was great because Billy didn't have to yell at him or anything, but he still managed to irk Andy a lot.

I had hoped it would make him think about what he was doing to Edie, but he continued, anyway, until he threw her out like yesterday's garbage.

Quote:
He did want to save her. She was just too messed up and desperate for fame/love that she didn't see the evilness of Andy. I always want her to go with Billy when he offers. She was so stupid
I know, I felt so badly for them both in that moment! He was just so sincere and sweet, but she couldn't let go of Andy.

You're welcome girls.

I think that one is probably my favorite. Just because he trumps Andy.
Billy was all calm cool and collective. (Maybe the pot helped too )

Andy did that with everyone I am sure. All about the 15 minutes.
He was very detached from what I hear.
My dad remembered reading an article that when JFK died the whole country stopped but Andy just kept painting like nothing happened.

See don't do drugs! It makes you choose the mean painter over the hot and loving musician

Laura, I hope sometime soon you can join in too.

Billy really did get him good...left Andy speechless, more or less. It was so good that I have to wonder if Billy thought out what to say during the screen test, beforehand.

Yeah, maybe it helped...seemed like everyone in the movie was smoking something or other, or getting poked with a needle...

Right, near the end, when Andy started to adore other girls and made instant stars out of them...it just seems awful that someone could treat people like that. And then to not even pay them what they're worth for their time/work.

Exactly! Seriously, though, Edie spiralled out of control in a big way, with hardly a soul to help her...she could've had it so much better with Billy.

By the way, what do you think of Andy's confession? I think they had a portion of it at the start of the film, and another portion near the end...that made it seem like he cared about Edie and their relationship, and possibly felt regret about what happened. They really did seem close, during the good times. However, I still don't think he cared enough to do anything to help her, once her star fell.

I think he was just that cool and sly he made it up on the spot And perhaps it was just that easy to make an ass out of Andy

There were more drugs in that studio then in a hospital

I really think with his love and support he would have got the help she needed to kick the drugs and the appreciation for her art that she wanted. Not over night, but it would have happened.

I think there was some regret but I agree that he didn't care enough to help. He was just to self involved. And he went to confession for the weirdest things. Not confess is sins but to just go on and on about it superficial life.

Ever watch the special features?

Billy did have the charm and wit to be able to do that.

Who do you think was footing the bill for all that junk? Seems like it was Andy...

He appreciated her for being herself...remember the smile he got, just from watching her ride a horse? And their bike ride, with her tears...he could have been there to fill that void in her life.

Yeah, I was kinda confused by his confession ramblings - not the sort of confession talk that I'm used to seeing in a film.

I watched the 'making of' featurette, and Sienna reading her lines for audition. I didn't have time to listen to the commentary, though.

Maria, cool that you'll be ordering it, this year.

I just want to say to the top banner pic, especially the shot on the right.
I've never seen that pic before and would very much like to see the whole shot

Serena, I tried to look for it at DH.net but it isn't there (I wonder if they've removed it out of "respect" to Hayden since it is showing his backside...). Surprisingly I don't have it saved on my photobucket either. So the only chance to see it is if Tasha still has it saved.
