I ask, because it continues to shock me how far off from my picks the finalists always end up being. My main problem is the way the groups are stacked. I don't think they did this intentionally in the previous seasons (this season is a different story), but good singers always fall through the cracks because you're inevitably going to have good weeks and bad weeks. The moment they announced how the voting for the Top 30 would work way back in Season One, I knew we'd end up with some crap singers while deserving people got screwed.

If I could have chosen any 12 from the Top 32 this season, it would have been (in no particular order) :

3. Diana DeGarmo
4. Matt Rogers
5. Matthew Metzger
6. Charly Lowry
7. Jasmine Trias
8. Jennifer Hudson
9. Erskine Walcott

If I had to choose two from each week and four for the Wildcards, it would be those same twelve. I guess I really liked the first week. Too bad it all went downhill from there. (I like Jon Peter Lewis, but his performances have been, if entertaining, vocally subpar since his initial audition. But I will enjoy watching him now that the actual Top 12 sucks so much, IMO.)

Quite a difference from the first season. My choice of any 10 from the Top 30 would have been vastly different from the actual Top 10, and my list if I had to choose three from each week and only one Wildcard would fall somewhere between the two.
