"In the Air Tonight" ~ Phil Collins
jennifer: Phillip Phillips, y'all know that name? You should know that name.
This year we came back talking about Phillip Phillips. There is no doubt that you are one of the most special talents we found on the road and you just proved why.
steven: You made it beautiful. It's not easy having a voice like yours and making it fit other people's songs, and I've been watching you do it and tonight you did, you did a really good job.
randy: You're so unique and so different for this show.
jimmy: We desperately need originality on this show and Phil Phillip has that. I believe every word he sang, I'd sign this guy on the spot.

"Superstition" ~ Stevie Wonder

jennifer: You just took it and you just made it your own and you killed it.
steven: You're a very interesting character. You've got a lot of 'forget about it' in you voice. There's no words for it. You just are.
randy: You drive your own car in your own lane and I love it.
jimmy: Phillip is that rare find of great musician and great singer. I think this show needs him.

jennifer: It just goes to prove that this is natural for you. It's in every cell of your body. It just comes out of you. It was a great song for you, it was perfect. It was great, I loved it.
steven: I'm really glad that you pick songs that match your voice and character.
randy: Tonight you don't have the guitar, after surgery, sounded like that, I don't even know what's going on. You sound amazing. Good song choice.
jimmy: I'm really proud of him. I'm really rooting for Phillip.

http://imgboot.com/images/secretveil/giftop10.gif
"Movin' Out" ~ Billy Joel
Studio Version
jennifer: You are who you are and you have to be who you are, that's it. And you saw the response. They feel the same way. It was an awesome performance, awesome. It was the perfect rendition of that song for you.
steven: You took that song and you Phillip Phillipsed it. You did a really good job at that, it was beautiful. I was hoping you'd do that today, that you'd sing a song and blow them out of the water.
randy: You are an unbelievably talented artist. That is one of the best renditions of that song ever. You are really heading somewhere and it was brilliant.

"Still Rainin'" ~ Jonny Lang
Studio Version
jennifer: You want us to feel the music, you want us to experience it with you. You do that when you sing. You make everything go away,
and we're riding the rythem and the lyrics and everything right with you. Amazing. That was a great performance.
steven: I feel like every song you sing you own, and it's in your body and soul. I love it.
randy: I'm a big Johnny Lang fan. I'm sure he's proud right now. You're doing this soulful bluesy rendition. I love you, I love every time you come out, I love the kind of artist you are. I love the individuality.

"Give a Little More" ~ Maroon 5
Studio Version
jennifer: It was just a little bit underwhelming for the Phillip Phillips that I love. I love Phillip. But it wasn't everything that I know that you can give us.
randy: I don't think it was your greatest performance. I don't know if it was that wow kind of a moment.
jimmy: Elise and Phillip, what we have here are two singer/songwriters. They have character in their voice. They have soul.

"Fat Bottomed Girls" ~ Queen
Studio Version
steven: I love watching you sing. I love watching you go out of breath. Cause when you're singing, it's just that character that nobody else has and I love it.
It was great, beautiful. And great choice of song.
jennifer: Do you know what I love about you? So many things. Do I say that every week?
I feel like you give us different flavors. Eventhough you sing songs the same and they're yours, we get a different side of you. That's the mark of a great singer to me, they just take every song and they can sing anything.
randy: I liked it, did I love it? Was I jumping up and down? No. It was good.

#20 | Top 06 Performance (2) | A Personal Song
http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/9048/giftop62.gif
"The Stone" ~ Dave Mathews
Studio Version
steven: Very entertaining, very off the wall. Typical Phillip Phillips.
I love the time when she was cutting on the fiddle and I love that you take chances like that. I think you found your niche. That’s great man. Nice going.
jennifer: It was a pretty song but it was a little bit obscure and a little bit too artsy. I need you to do songs that are going to get you on that last show so you can win.
randy: I'm gonna have to disagree with Jennifer right there. What you just did is you showed your true colors once again. You're Phillip Phillips, you're an artist, you love being an artist, you will never be anything else but an artist, I love that you're an artist.

#21 | Top 05 Performance (1) | Songs from the 60's
"The Letter" ~ The Box Tops

jennifer: Very mellow. It was good… The verses really suited your style… You did a good job with it.
randy: You know what was great about that... He really can sing the melody. That’s a cool thing... I love you playing the guitar... I thought it was a nice performance.
steven: I’m glad you chose that song and I’m glad you sang the melody... The most important thing is you sang it well man... So, good for you.

Studio Version
jennifer: You’re very comfortable up there... You took us there again. There you go.
randy: I am a Ginormous fan! That’s bigger than enormous... You’re fearless. You got after notes… It’s effortless. Another great performance.
steven: I gotta say, you didn’t take that song where you’ve taken every other song. I kind of missed that in the flair.
But you can do no wrong. I’m one of your biggest fans.

It’s #ChildrensHospitalsWeek! A rockstar kid that inspires me is 8-year-old Bennett, who’s from Leesburg just like me! He has a heart defect called Critical Aortic Stenosis and has had a few serious surgeries throughout his little life but he is about as tough as they come. Bennett is currently on the up-and-up, living near his hospital in St. Louis, and will hopefully be back to Leesburg soon. Check out more from @cmnhospitals on their page.

Cereal Killer 03-24-2019 03:10 PM

That is really sweet.

dancing in the rain 03-26-2019 11:10 AM

Bringing awareness to cases like that which probably could use any help they get

Cereal Killer 03-31-2019 08:50 AM

I always love it when the Idols use their fame for causes like that.

dancing in the rain 04-02-2019 09:16 AM

Yeah same, and especially when they really care about it and are personal (like Phillip actually mentioning a certain kid), not just doing because it's good PR.

Cereal Killer 04-07-2019 12:18 PM

So true, it shows how commited to the cause they genuinely are. Really nice of Philip to mention that kid too.

dancing in the rain 04-10-2019 10:20 AM

Yeah exactly, and still doing that it seems!
