I thought Lee did really good on Idol Thursday, that was the first time I've seen him perform. Like his new song too :)

Oh don't worry about it, I know certain threads take priority when we do find time to post in more threads than the usual ones

Luckily we can always come back and pick up where we left. :D

And yeah Annabelle has both beautiful lyrics and melody :sigh: It's one of the songs he usually sings when his set list includes his pre-Idol songs so I also love hearing how his take on it has changed now
That's nice he keeps performing it. I love when songs evolve through live performances. :sigh:

Also thought I'd post these. His AI performance of Silver Lining:

And his in-studio performance from a couple of weeks ago:

Thanks for the videos! Great song and performance! I was like 'whoa' when it got the chorus, it was more country than I expected. But this kind of country/folksy stuff has been doing very well lately so I hope Lee will be successful with it too.

Also really liked the live studio version!

IKR? It starts out somewhat slow and then it hits you with that chorus  I really like its sound, the melody is cool. He was much more content while writing this one because he got more freedom with it as opposed to the debut album so yeah I really hope it does well

Yeah, the more uptempo chorus gets you off guard. But it's cool, I like it. Really interesting melody. And that sounds great about having more freedom to write his new album! It does seem that the winners are often too restricted from releasing the kind of music they really want to make. As you may know, also David has talked a lot about feeling more free now that he's not with RCA anymore. I hope Lee's album does well, too!

And the thing that annoys the most is that they force them to give their album a certain direction and when it isn't a success, they blame it on the person :pout:

And yeah I probably read about it in one of the interviews you post  It's pretty common unfortunately XD

NikNak 05-04-2013 08:51 AM

I was skeptical about Lee's new song at first, it was a bit weird. But I really liked it after I listened to it a couple of times.

dancing in the rain 05-05-2013 12:01 AM

That's cool Nikki! That happens to me quite a bit  Do you mean the lyrics or the melody was weird?

Exactly, or when they don't know how to promote it properly. :P

 Well, let's hope for more artistic freedom for all of these artists. :D

BTW, I've been meaning to say this, I love our icons with our fave WGWGs (terms used with love, of course :P) posing kinda similarly, it amuses me. xD

It was different than what I was expecting, but in the end I found it cool, too.

Or that ... it's their fault no matter the reason

I think they started well last year with Phillip since he seemed to have it good with both his victory song and his debut album so hopefully this continues from now on.

I noticed that too and was amused by it :rotfl: Actually in the one you had before this one, David also had his arm up if I remember correctly and I was amused by that too  And I find myself using the term WGWG in a matter-of-fact kind of way too XD

That's good for Phillip, and yeah let's hope so.

Yeah, the previous one was the cover of the new single. But now it's even more obvious when the colors are more similar. xD Haha, well the term is pretty descriptive. xD

dancing in the rain 05-05-2013 09:42 AM

Yeah the similarity shows more now, same angle, same head inclination and everything  And the sigs have lyrics and YT links to their new singles XD

Cereal Killer 05-05-2013 09:55 AM

Exactly. I promise I wasn't consciously copying you though. :rotfl:

dancing in the rain 05-05-2013 01:23 PM

Well you had the sig first and a similar icon so I should probably say the same XD

It was the melody. The chorus tempo caught me off-guard at first. I was like, where did that come from?

dancing in the rain 05-06-2013 11:17 AM

Oh okay, yeah I guess I do get it
