Kara Elizabeth DioGuardi (born December 9, 1970) is an American singer-songwriter, record producer,
and TV personality who has contributed to a long list of internationally successful popular songs.
She writes music primarily in the light pop-rock and dance genres. DioGuardi has worked with Celine Dion, David Archuleta,
Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Paula Abdul.
She is also a judge on American Idol, joining the show in its eighth season.

I think she's doing a great job on Idol

she kind of breaks up the monotony of the same ol-same ol of Paula, Simon and Randy, and gives a good balance.

ITA. She's not "insignificant" like Randy often seems to be, she's not a drunken weirdo and she's not the person who's mean just because that's his reputation. She's just... honest.

I was rewatching Adam's audition today, and I liked how Kara stood up to Simon when he was saying Adam was too theatrical. Good for her
