According to his twitter Mikey's been busy performing in NYC and then flying last night to LA for the finale. I love how they all get together for these.

So, Mikey's album drops tomorrow but you can already stream it here. I would be more excited if we hadn't already heard most of the songs, but it's understandable (kinda) that they are on the album since the previous solo album was never officially released. I don't know if I had picked all these songs though.

Anyway, I just listened to the whole album. It's pretty good. He's gone for a 70's retro sound, kinda old fashioned even, which is not necessarily a bad thing. All the old tracks have been tweaked according to this sound. I don't know it that made them better. To be honest his unreleased solo record was never my favorite kind of Mikey so I don't care too much that the songs have been changed a bit. They're alright. It's Too Late sounds lovely after the very beginning.

From the new tracks Heart On My Sleeve is the most modern sounding and commercial one. I just love that song.

Hold Back My Heart sounds interesting. This Is Goodbye is adorable.

Heart Is Weak is pretty good, so is Turn To You. I don't care too much about the To Love Somebody cover, it never was my among my favorite BeeGees songs.

His voice still sounds amazing, I'll never stop loving it.

Although the record isn't exactly the type of music I most likely listen to, I like it. It's certainly something different, there isn't much this kind of music out there right now, mainly because it's not a current sound. I can see myself listening to some of these tracks on a regular basis but I'm not gonna lie, I still love Mikey best in his Film and especially The Rising era. That was just awesome.

I kinda wish he would have put together another band like that and gone for a more rockish sound. But I guess he's moved on from that towards this more, 70's retro soul funk sound. It does make me a bit sad. Well, I'll always have The Rising...

Anyways, give it a listen, guys.

Yeah, I heard he's got good reviews which is great. Of course it's awesome that he finally got to release an album of his own and I'm very happy for him too.

I found it odd that he didn't respond to MJ's death.. at least not on twitter, maybe he said something at an interview or something.
