OK first of all Teen Wolf and Buffy were based on movies.
They decided to take those movies and re tell the story for TV. Buffy TV show from the movie was very different so was Teen Wolf for TV. Those were remakes not Reboots! To say the Roswell Reboot is a remake it wrong! This new show is a whole new idea and concept! Call it a different name like Area 51 or something just not Roswell! I refuse to watch it and I really hope it fails! This is the CW way of trying the same old concept like Star-crossed and giving it a name like Roswell to trick people into watch it. This is not a reboot! It's rubbish! It's just a slap in the face to the loyal fans who had to deal with the WB antics back in the day! Roswell Tabasco Sauce Champaign happened for a reason! There is a reason we had to fight for 3 seasons! Then the CW comes up with Star-Crossed and they promote it like Roswell! Even the promo posters looked like the season 2 Roswell DVD covers! Sorry CW but this is not a reboot call it a different name just not Roswell! Leave my Roswell alone! __________________

I completely agree Erin. They should call it something else. I sent you the link for it on Facebook.

Exactly, call it something else and don't call it a "reboot". For me, a "reboot" is what they did with Gilmore Girls...and that's what I want want for Roswell.
This is a remake pure and simple, and I wish they would call it something else as well. Heck, even call it Roswell High, anything other than "Roswell". ESPECIALLY if there are zero ties to our show. __________________

I haven't posted here in ages but after hearing the awful reboot news today, I felt I needed to check on where everyone else stood on this issue.
I'm glad to see I'm not alone in my feeling of anger and dismay. I feel so bad for Melinda Metz, cos she found out about this the same way alot of us did....online. That reboot is Roswell in name only and I for one will not watch it. I'm so incredibly furious at the CW today, I can't find the words. __________________

I'm glad too that I'm not alone with my initial reaction...at first I felt silly but now I feel a bit more justified! I also don't care for them using gifs and images from our series to promote this reboot - stop.

That is what I want. A continuing chapter. Heck, I will even take a show focused on the second generation. And the older cast maybe only doing cameos. Since Shiri is tied to Unreal, and Brandan to Night Shift (if they that gets renewed).
The pitch around the show is not that horrible. It definitely could be spinned around to make it connected to the original series... As was said, Teen Wolf and Buffy were offshoots of movies. Not a earlier television show, with it's own hardcore fans. It is insane to bring back the show, and use only the name. If the show doesn't get connected to the original show. Then they should change the name. I can see why they want to do it. And there is a market for it. As I have long said, Roswell existed in a different time. Now, I believe it could be a hit. But it was too different for the late 90's, and early 2000's. But I want a connection. And the theory of using Max and Tess's son is not the way to do it. __________________

The earliest would be next fall. But a script has to be written, as they only have the pitch right now. So changes can be made, or even change the name of the show! __________________

What bothers me is, the fans who are in favor of this reboot seem like they are willing to watch anything remotely resembling or even referencing our beloved original show, no matter how bad the "reimagined" storyline is. As a Roswellian from day one of the show, I for one am fed up and sick to death with the whole reboot/reimagining old shows & movies. We rallied so hard and so long to keep Roswell on the air the first time around. At this point it feels like all the studios and networks are trying to do now is cash in on the fan base that they've dumped on in the past. (Being an X-Files, Star Trek and Star Wars fan, I can say, that this is getting old fast, cos the new versions of those universes were/are TERRIBLE). I refuse to be manipulated like that anymore.

Im confused. I'm not sure how I feel. I don't hate all reboots but I'd much rather a continuation of sorts a la Prison Break and Gilmore girls. I'd like to see Flashbacks to their life on the run and maybe how they for their lives back and found some piece.
Maybe I will try and keep an open mind. I'd rather they have a college setting vs a highschool settign though. That way I won't feel that old to watch it. I know I know it's based of books but you can take some creative leaps. __________________
