Roswell, New Mexico EP 02

Is anybody still watching?

ratings for # 1
“Roswell, New Mexico” at 9 got a 0.4/2 and 1.5 million viewers.

This isnt very good for a pilot. numbers always drop from the pilot,
so I am curious to see ratings for ep 02
I will add them wed, or someone else can.

Ok saw ep 2, and the story is kind of intersesting concerning
the rosa murder and the alien hunter.

Did not care for the sex scenes at end, especially the alex Michael scene.

Now liz thinks max killed Rosa ?? huh?

I wanted to know who the show runner was and found out it is
Carina Adly MacKenzie who was a writer on the originals.
I dont know if she pitched the idea to CW or they just selected her
to run the show and develop it.

So everything you dont like or like about the show is on her as showrunner.

Cant blame the writers, they just write it as it is laid out by showrunner

Carina said it is just loosely based on the original and books, and I read
that liz in the books was mexican too?

but anyway not much improvement over the pilot carina wrote ep 01 and 02
so maybe writing improves with other writers later, but she is credited
with 5 eps so ....ugh.

It is a shame someone better didnt get to reboot this show.

But I am now wanting to see who killed rosa lol. that is about the main interest,
if I can take the other crap in the show.

On a scale of 10 I would give the pilot a 2 and this one a 3.

The main problem is carina and her basic concept for the characters.
hard to write good eps when she already messed up the characters.

I will add that the ratings for the pilot are pretty much what the CW
requires to keep a show on.
So ep 02 ratings could determine if show is gonna make it or not.

I didn't watch the pilot, I accidentally watched this. INMHO. There is not too much of what the show used to be. I'm not sold out with Michael having homosexual sex, Especially with Max Evans having sex to a blond who I presume must be Tess. The actors who played the reinvigorated version of Max and Liz does not have the same chemistry as Shiri and Jason, Which I think is sad cause this is what made Roswell, Roswell, Maybe they are moving from that direction I assumed that if they want to attract the old loyal humongous Roswell fanbase they should invite some original Roswell actors as guest. Like Jason Behr, Nick Wechsler, Bill Sadler, Brendan Fehr, Majandra Delfino and even Emelie D Ravin as a guest or in recurring roles. This show has potentials and that's that

yeah it would help to have the old actors do guest roles or recurring.

The show had potential but has the wrong showrunner Carina M..

on imdb most user reviews said they would not watch any more after the pilot.

Carina didnt really consider the original fans when writing this, and creating
the new characters.
Then she throws in the gay stuff, racism stuff, changes the basic characters,
has no theme song or good music for scenes.

I am curious so I will try to watch all 13 eps.

The characters and show will never be as good as originals, but
I am curious to what happens with rosa and why she was killed.

Also like first show there will be a nasedo, they said one survied, and is a
killer, so I want to see what is done with that.

It is just weird to see a Roswell show on again, I never thought this
show would be remade.

I didn't expect them to throw Max and Liz under a bus so quickly. Even the original waited 18 episodes! I suspect things will be back on track by episode 6.

I did like the first Liz, Maria and Alex scene. Maria admitting Michael was hot. I worry that when they inevitably do Michael and Maria (should it get past season 1) its going to cause drama in fandom.

Music was on point, that Third Eye Blind song. The OG used Third Eye Blind twice. It made it feel so Roswell.

As for the ratings, as long as it stays in the 0.3 demo area it should be OK to be renewed. The CW usually picks up 3 series per year. This year it picked up 5 as it expanded into Sunday. It has 3 series already coming to an end this year. It may renew all but those 3 its already said are concluding. It may also cancel All American which averaged a 0.2. In the Dark still has to debut in April but that seems DOA. So that is 5 to go before Roswell New Mexico if Roswell holds OK.

Also consider the CW cannot launch non-IP originals anymore. That is why they tried Charmed and Roswell. Their hits are, superhero shows, Riverdale and WB holdover Supernatural. The last 3 seasons all their non IP pilots had All American numbers. Why would they cancel Roswell just to debut another 0,2 rated show again? Or worse.

you make some good points jane.

ep 001 again
Pilot 0.4 1.51

from spoiler TV ratings for ep 02

Roswell, New Mexico 0.4 1.23

so the demo held up, just a drop in total viewers.
Still low, but considering the cw needs to end some other shows,
this might get a S-2.

yeah they did have liz get sweet on max, then turn on him in ep 2 thinking
he is a liar and had something to do with killing of her sister.

Funny thing is liz is all out to find out who killed her sister, but could care less
about the other 2 girls ! That is a bit racist itself, and to do a good investigation, you need to look at the other 2 girls prior to that nite, and see
what they were into. why were they together that nite?

I will watch S-1, the only other show on tue nite I watch is the flash, and
it has gotten boring.
So Roswell is something to watch, and I still am in shock this show in any
version is back on TV.
So even though it is messed up and with julie plec and her buddy carina
writing and directing much of it , it is going to be pretty lame at times.

But I know that, and can just record and then FF thru the crap.

Notice last episode how Max's power causes radio static. Liz's did the same in season 3 but Max's never did in the OS. I don't think that was on purpose, Carina said she only saw the OS season 3 once when it aired but it must have stuck in her head. Maybe subconsciously. Apparently it is meant to happen when Max's emotions go wild, anger and lust primarily.

They are going all in on the resurrection angle of Liz getting shot. I know the line is 'I'm Liz parker and 5 days ago I DIED' but the OS never went into it that much. Max said 'You have to look at me', can't do that if you are dead. So we figured it was a metaphor. This series goes all in on Liz being dead and Max not just healing her but bringing her back from the dead.

I'm also intrigued by this anger awoken in him. I thought it was first just Max from season 2 lurking in there and it may be, it may be an alienness awoken by that amazing use of power. It could also be a deeper bond with Max and Liz. He says it ebbs away around her. Excited to see where that goes.

As for Nu-Tess, 'Cameron'. not feeling it. I wonder what the point of her is? To remind us of Tess to make us think she killed Rosa? An obstacle to Max and Liz this season? Not sure

Ratings, great hold. It will slip to a 0.3 at some point. No panic. Charmed did a 0.2 on Sunday but it was up against football. Supergirl and Black Lightning did a 0.3. Supergirl was also interrupted by football. Arrow did a 0.4.

I have been a fan of Roswell since 1999. i openly admit i was excited from day one when this was announced and followed it ever since.
We are just past episode 2 and I have to admit we finally have a decent recent tv show. I am fully committed to this re-imagination. The cast have gelled together so well and the chemistry is one of a kind.
This is doing Roswell justice. it is so beautiful and i am so invested.
I love Michael and Alex. I havent fangirled like this in YEARS!

These are my opinions.

it was in the dialogue that "he killed Liz" in reference to the shooting. It was in episode 1:02

I guess most here already quit watching the show or dont care to discuss it lol.
Too bad Carina made such a mess of the show with all the weird changes.

I still find it somewhat interesting, and sometimes shows get better as they go
along.

people tend to judge shows by the 1st ep, but really most 1st eps are not
very good.
