REggie - I changed my avie but in my previous one, it was Duchovny and Anderson having fun, behind the scenes.

About Stargate, yes, it's been cancelled, which sucks. And I think the Ori are pretty frightening enemies.

Re SG1 cancellation...
RDA left, MS was talking about leaving, the General left, and although CJ was willing to stay, it would be cool to see him do something else.

Interestingly, Atlantis is pulling a bigger audience and should live on for at least another season.

Well, Stargate SG1 survived two years without RDA. And I thought the latest Atlantis/SG1 ratings were almost the same ?

I can't get into Atlantis, while I love the concept of the Ancients. Don't know, it's too cold, the cast just doesn't click or isn't tight. I don't feel it. Although the new guy is eye candy.

Hey, you know in the 3rd season, when Khivar comes to earth in a vortex, you think the writers were inspired by Stargate ?

I didn't make that connection, I guess because the Gate is more horizontal and the vortex on Roswell was more vertical. Kind of like the difference between upright and cannister vacuum cleaners LOL.
In the books there was a vortex that brought an evil alien.

Oh, true, I had forgotten that. So maybe the vortex wasn't inspired by Stargate but by the Roswell High books. Still, I have troubles seeing this kind of vortex, what if it opens directly in a wall, or a table ? The traveler would be squashed like a fly and would die.

Right; well, the first thing you do is look through and see what's there. If the other end is inside something, you adjust your aim so that it comes out somewhere safe.
Even on Stargate, they send a MALP through first to check on things.

Just saw a commercial for a new show starting next Tuesday (October 3) at 7pm Central time on NBC titled "Friday Night Lights" about high school football. Sooo Not my thing!!. But it's starring Kyle Chandler (from the show about the cat who brought tomorrow's paper today, "Early Edition") as the coach, and it's co-executive produced by Jason Katims.

Another Jason Katims sighting? Mark "Friday Night Lights" off my to-watch list. Fortunately, I'm not that keen on football, anyway.

Another JK sighting? Fortunately, I'm not that keen on football (or High School soap operas). I guess I'll mark that off my "to watch" list.

Our rock

Well, he was there first; fighting the "Gort" or whatever it was. A frog-headed monster, whom he did in with home-made black powder in a bamboo cannon.

If any of the old Lizology regulars are still lurking, and remember the discussions of the "Hero's Journey" formula, may I commend to your attention the "Avitar" cartoon on the Nickelodeon / Nicktoons channels? The artwork is good, too.

That place must be famous in Hollywood, because I saw it in a number of tv series, too.

At work I told someone about the recaps on televisionwithoutpity.com which started a conversation about message boards etc., which she had never discovered.
My coworker said, "Roswell? Oh, I liked that show."
Nice to know there are fond memories. It's almost been canned long enough for someone to resurrect it like Battlestar Galactica.

Yes, fond memories indeed. Have you heard from Qfanny lately?

But I think it's still too early for a resurection. It's still running on the Sci-Fi Channel, for goodness sake! Maybe in ten years, when enough people will have forgotten about it for it to be "new" again. And perhaps not geared to the Roswell crash, but to another (ficticious?) one, not so long ago.
