TalkativeOne - Thanks for giving a bit of background. I need to call Epson to get some advice on making good photo prints with my RX620. I am sure it is capable, but I am not getting what I think is a true image. I should do some experimenting, but inks are so expensive I have not gotten around to it.

Softie - One of these days I will take a photo of my Barrington print and post it here. It is extremely similar to your avatar.

Did more gardening and ironing. The rest of the day I needed to rest!

Still reading my UFO book but it is turning out to be a "he said, she said" thing, especially over alleged Majestic top secret papers. Are they real? Are they a hoax? Who knows whose theory is correct?
Hi NANA I rarely print photos anymore, as you say ink is so expensive and doesn't last that long! with the camera software you should be able to transfer the information onto a CD disc as a slide show and watch it on the tele or monitor. costs a few pence..and it looks so much better too.

As for your Barrington print,I would like to see that sometime.
Also I forgot to mention about your beautiful poem of the Cascade mountains.
It does paint a wonderful picture of the area, and as you say,its medicine for the soul.On a deeper level the beauty in nature is our beauty, our own formless presence in another form....wow!
I don't look at or read about violence or negativity as I believe thats the opposite,it feeds poison to the mind and soul. I Never watch the news or have papers now, most of it is negative and can have a depressing affect.

My aunt works at a retirement village for missionaries in FL. When a tenant vacates a residence, after the family goes through it, what ever is left is donated to the Village. Some things are used by other residents, they have yard sales, or find buyers for unusual items. My aunt knows that I collect rocks and minerals, so she gets permission to bring those types of things up here to see if I want to buy them.

This time she brought the following book:

Spanish: pontificia universidad catolica del peru
programa academico de letras y ciencias humanas
significado de la industria Litica de Paiján: peru
Tesis para optar el titulo de Doctor en Etnologia

English: Papal Catholic University of Peru
Academic Program of Letters and Human Sciences
Meaning of the Industry Litica de Paiján: Peru
Thesis to choose the title of Doctor in Ethnology

William J. Kornfield
Lima – Peru
1971

Mr. Kornfield retired at the missionary village. He and his wife are now in a nursing home with Alzheimer's.

The book is his prsonal copy. It is typewritten in Spanish, 92 pages. Unfortunately, I don't speak Spanish. Most of the drawings are in pencil(?) on squares of paper attached to the pages in the book. A few of the drawings are in ink on some kind of clear material. A few of the paper drawings are missing. Originally there were over 100 drawings.

There are also over 100 pieces consisting of partial points, chips, flat implements with a sheen on one edge, some intact points (arrowheads), a few potshards, etc. from his personal collection. Some of it is numbered similar to the drawings in the book, but we haven't found any exact matches. Some items appear to be labeled with locations. About half of it is unlabeled.

I hope I'm not violating any laws by having these items. To the best of my knowledge they were collected in the 1970s. I'm pretty sure that was before the import restrictions an repatriation(sp?) laws.

I find Mr. Kornfield's collection very interesting, but I feel it would be of greater value to someone who knows more about it than I do, which is very little.

I'm having a hard time finding an Archaeoloist to look at it. There are a few Univ. in my area that have Graduate programs in Archaeology, but they seem to be on summer break. I'd really like someone to look at this stuff and tell me if it's significant or not.

Any suggestions as to how to find a buyer other than putting it on eBay?

Anyone read Spanish well enough to try to give me an idea of what a couple of pages say? I used an internet translater to figure out the title and some words, but it's very tedious with the 'accent marks.

jero what a cool thing! I hope you can find someone to translate for you.

Nosee

softie, Nana, Settled

I had a good cry today as we went through some of Momma's things.
Had some good laughs too.
Later I had lots of carb filled comfort food.
Tomorrow I will be good again.

Pup is needy or senses I am. Either way, I'm off to give him some attention.

Dreamer - Nice photo of you at the game! Looks like you are having a good time.

Jero - Sounds like something that would be a geneology prize to their family. But their family evidently isn't interested. Wish I could help you out with the translation, but I am not bilingual.

Got an email from the police department. They know who did the burglary we had last Fall and will send us photos of some of the things they recovered. The main thing missing is my laptop and they said the guy was giving them to his drug supplier for drugs and he was posting them on Craig's list and they were gone within 48 hours. There's no way they can trace that.

The grandgirls are coming tomorrow. We are heading into hot weather. I hope the girls will not come down with my daughter's flu. But that is a possibility. We have several ideas of things we would like to do with them this visit, and the zoo is on the list. Know they would enjoy that. We shall see.

Softie - Will get the Barrington photo posted soon so you can compare it to your avatar.

Aw JenI am glad you had fun at the Dodgers game! Love the photo! You look great!

I saw the musical Wicked this week! It was amazing! I loved it! If you ever get a chance to see the show please do! It was wonderful! I loved the twist they did on the whole story of The Wizard of Oz and the back ground on the Wicked Witch of the West!

Hope all is well OTO's!

Looking good D4E!

Lori, glad you had some good laughs.

For Nana 's daughter >

I spent all of last night (except for VOTING) photographing about HALF of Mr. Kornfield's collection... I uploaded over 100 pics!... I started out photoing the fronts and backs but it was taking too much time... At one point I had to stop to recharge my camera. It's a good thing my dining room table has 4 leaves!

I finally talked to someone in the Archaeology Dept. at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. She said most of the dept. was gone right now. They should be back in August. I can drop off the collection at any time and they will try to identify the pieces as to what it was used for, where it came from, what culture made it and how old it is. They won't give any $$$ amounts or be responsible if any pieces are lost, stolen or misplaced. So I'll have to talk to my aunt before I do that.
