I think you've hit on something, Pink Lady. Special powers for Bob. Michael blasted Bob and turned him into a fireball but look at the picture that Citrus posted (Hi, Citrus). Does that look like a burned out jeep? Seems pretty intact to me. Don't rubber tires melt in extreme heat?

The key is “extreme heat”. Although the jeep went over the edge in flames, the jeep then drops over the edge.

Most people don’t have the opportunity to play around with fires much, except perhaps when grilling food. Trying to burn a magazine, for example, isn’t easy, even in a hot fire. The fire must be hot enough and burn long enough to consume all of the pages.

Tires are difficult to ignite. The heat must be intense and prolonged for tires to burn. Once on fire, they burn a long time and emit a lot of thick, dense, black smoke. The tires didn’t burn when Michael set flames around the jeep. The jeep wasn’t burnt to a cinder. The flames around the jeep, while impressive, weren’t sufficiently hot enough and didn’t burn long enough to involve the tires of the jeep. None of the tires are on fire, as seen in this cap.

Here is a site that has photos of the type of flames and dense smoke seen when tires and the rest of a vehicle is destroyed. In the examples, the fires and flames look quite different from the flames that were around the jeep.

Hope that helps.

Thank you super sleuth Citrus for that explanation. I should have known you'd come up with the details. A web site to back it up is even more impressive.

So, if we are to believe that Bob was not incinerated, just badly damaged, and has now been rescued and hauled off to a repair shop, it is possible that Bob is alive and well in Roswell even today. I wonder who bought Bob. Maybe there's a glut of jeeps in Roswell so an automobile speculator, hoping to make a big profit, bought Bob and moved him to some other city where jeeps are scarce. If that is the case, one of us could end up owning an alien jeep. I think I'll check the want ads for a 1954 M38A1 jeep. The name even has an A in it, A for alien.

Bob the Jeep. How could they blow Bob up? When they pulled him out of the ravine, he was intact. Damaged but still in one piece. Are you saying they blew him up after they rescued him?

In Departure I think they blew him up - actually sent him over the ravine in flames and then over to the scrap yard.

I think the jeep used in season three is a different jeep. Perhaps Bob's brother acting as a stand in. I could be wrong. What do I know about the way they treated their props? But this seems the most logical to me.

According to fans who visited the filming of Roswell, there were two jeeps on location when the jeep scenes were shot. Fans photographed them and posted pictures. Sometimes, one jeep was enclosed and the other was open.

After Roswell ended, the jeeps became available for sale on the internet. Reportedly, however, there was no interest in purchasing them, and the owner withdrew the offering. Although the jeeps hold sentimental value for fans, they are rather impractical for use, as they are old. For collectors, there might be interest, but at the time the jeeps were offered for sale, collectors weren’t buying.

Likewise, there were two blue convertibles on location when filming Roswell scenes of Max’s “new” car.

I was surprised too, at the time. However, I don't know how many people were aware of the sale. I only read about it on a thread here. Also, I don't know what the asking price was. Who knows? Maybe they were later sold. Or maybe the original owner still has them.

Great picture, Linda Claudia Behr!
