It really did tell their story. Liz really got a eye full of what it meant to lose Max. She thought she could leave town, go miles away and try to stay away. She found the powers followed but even then she needed the time away, but then to know he "died". And then he got a miracle shot at life again through a mad man, and he fought to come back to her. And the grand sacrifice. All the heartache really showed in that time. She got lucky. They were so magical.
And then they took their time once back in Roswell. Of course it didn't last long, but you knew they both grew from it. Jason and Shiri sold it so well. Kyle really came into his own especially in Season 3. I loved her friendship, and how she saught him out for advice and they were truly friends. I may have loved Season 3, but yeah they were stronger for the "Changes" arc... __________________

It's funny how she never saw Max dead in the flashes.
Yes those makeout scenes were the best! __________________

Ok I tried to go in with an open mind. I wasn't sure what to expect. My gut was right it is a nightmare! The show is not the Roswell we know and love.
First of all the pilot opens up with the Roswell crash from 1947. Flashback to current day. Liz has left town and has to return when the funding to her science research grant is cut. Liz moves back to town now has to work at her the Crashdown that her father owns. She hates working at the Crashdown. They have a pod cast radio Milton type guy who talks about alien and government conspires. Liz makes up stories to the tourists like she does in the original series about meeting an alien and her father gets in on the gag. She meets Max when he stops her on the highway along with Sherif Valenti who is now a woman for a broken tail light. Max and Liz have not seen each other for 10 years. Everyone is in town for the 10 year high school reunion. Isabel is now married and is helping put the reunion together. But we see her more hooking up with her husband then planning a reunion. She is not the Ice Queen we all know and love. She can now mind wrap people. She knows Max has loved Liz for a long time and mind warps Liz ten year ago to forget him so Max can stay in Roswell. Liz also ten years ago has a sister Rosa who later dies in a car crash and kills two classmates in her senior year. The town claims her sister was on drugs and Liz's mother was mentally ill and Rosa got into drugs because of the mother. Liz's Mom passed away a few years ago. Hence why the town hates her family and why Liz vows to leave Roswell. Michael lives in a trailer and hides the alien stuff in his trailer. He is in jail for some reason. I think because he has to leave the land or something. They didn't make that clear. Michael eventually gets out thanks to Max. Alex is now a solder who has a hurt leg. He now wears a fake leg. He works for the military. He tells Michael he has to leave. Maria is a bar tender and Fortune teller she is the Madam Vivian of the series. No Candies what so ever because Michael and Alex hook up. Kyle is now a doctor he is not related to the Valentines what so ever. Later on Liz is working late at night dancing to her sisters favorite song. Hey Mrs. potter by Counting Crows. Just like how Max would listened to Counting Crows in the original in Toy House. Liz invites Max in for a milkshake the dinner experiences a drive by shooting in regards to the hatred towards Liz's family with the deaths in town years ago. Max heals Liz. Next day Liz goes to Kyle to have her check her out. He does a scan to see if the bullet is still there. Of course nothing. Then the hand print appears. Max is distance to Liz after the shooting. She gives him a milkshake to thank him for saving her life. She gets a blood sample from the straw. Later on she meets Maria they get drunk she starts to hook up with Kyle. Kyle sees the hand print and Liz leaves. Later on Max takes Liz to the pod chamber he tells her he is an alien. Liz has questions but apologies for being a scientist. Our Liz would never do that. They share a connection scene with them placing their hands over their hearts and get flashes from childhood and high school. Liz sees how Max loved her all along and Max invites her to the reunion. Mean while Kyle asks the Military about seeing hand prints they then take Kyle to an underground bunker and show him a top secret lab. I think this was in the books. Max and Liz go to the reunion everyone is shocked she came and she starts to leave when Maria plays her sisters favorite song and they dance at the end. Max reveals he has something to so with the death of Liz's sister Rosa to Isabel and Michael and that Liz can never know. Michael and Alex kiss and Kyle learns more about the Hand Print people in the secret government cave. The end. Julie Plec and Candice talked about how they wanted the story to be about cowboys. So they made it Cowboys and Aliens. Then they went on and on about how diverse the cast is. Which is great and all but that is all they talked about was diversity. No taking about character storyline or plot. Also it was so political. They made it so obvious from the start. Sometimes I just want to escape into a story with out an agenda. We get enough of the news daily with politics that sometimes you need a break. Candice said how she loves the original. I am not so sure. This show didn't have the same magic or feel. They also started to name drop a lot Julie Plec and Candice saying how Shiri Appleby will direct the third episode. So that was cool to hear. Then Julie was going on and on how she is a good friends with Jason Behr and how he was at Candice's Birthday party. They said it was because of Candice and Julie that the original cast reunited and is hanging out more. Wrong the original cast has always been close! Majandra was in Katherine Wedding a few years back. Nick and Katherine are friends so is Brendan and Majandra. The cast reunited in 2014 at the Austin Television festival. I hate how they just named dropped to look like see we respect the original. The two main actors who play Max and Liz were there at the talk as well. They talked about how they had worked together on Bun Heads but had to be reminded of who the other was in the audition. I would of loved to have know if they had watched the original and what they wanted to bring to the character in the remake but again they talked about all about diversity with the cast. Julie Plec went on and on about the chemistry between Max and Liz and how good it was. She said how she never saw better chemistry! I am sorry but they are not Jason and Shiri or Brendan and Majandra for that matter. The two leads had no chemistry what so ever! Just because you have worked with someone in the past does not give you a pass for great cemetery. At times the pilot felt so rushed and thrown together. It was like they had a list and were just checking off the boxes. Hand Print check, shooting check, crashdown check. Also the Crashdown was not decorated on the inside so you didn't see it was a theme restaurant like in the original. All you saw was a neon sign saying Crashdown. It was so confusing to tell who was Max and who was Michael and you didn't know what character was which until they said their name. I noticed how when the pilot aired how no one really clapped or cheered during it when they would cut to a different scene. No one clapped during the shooting scene. Some clapped at the end. Also Julie Plec talked about her first time directing and the challenges they faced. She didn't realize they needed more town and dessert shorts in the pilot. Hello your show is called Roswell New Mexico and you didn't think to have shots of the town! :faceplam: There were no shots of the high school just the reunion party. We never saw the Evans house or any of the houses in the town. Liz does not have a balcony. One shot was a carbon copy from our pilot when Max and Isabel are found in the dessert at night by the Evans. David Nutter did a stellar job directing our pilot. It was pure magic! So well done. He captured the world perfectly. Over all I hope it crashes and burns! No chemistry or magic what so ever! The really was the titanic of ideas. Leave our Roswell alone! If Candice, Julie, and the CW think this is a homage to Roswell and to the fans they are wrong! This was such a slap in the face to all of us die hards who fought to get Roswell on the air for 3 seasons! Roswell was a feeling like no other. The CW has no idea what fandom they are dealing with! There is only ONE Roswell! 19 years later we still believe! __________________
