Yeah, it's before but the "unresolved sexual tension" was super high in the 4th or 5th season. I don't think they really got together til about season 6 or 7.

It was funny the creator Chris Carter never wanted Mulder and Scully to get together romantically. But by season 5, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson even knew their on screen chemistry was UST and became shippers of their own characters and started playing it that way

and then when they both wrote their own episodes, they put in some pretty heavy duty straightforward flirting and sharing bed scenes for them!

This is my favourite outtake.... the two of them squished together in a small space and Scully thinks she feels too much of Mulder

oh the innuendo, the sarcasm, but the insinuation and the chemistry... sure, they are just platonic agents working professional... no UST undertones at all

How did Chris Carter imagine the no romance though! Even before Season 5, their closeness was undeniable
