I am currently reading Sabriel. I am enjoying it and will probably read the rest of The Old Kingdom books.

Last SciFi/Fantasy book before it was The Telling, which like most of Le Guin's work was beautiful and amazing.

Just finished The Host by Stephanie Meyer. Loved it. I have read the Twilight books and her writing has improved with each book, I think. Loved the Twilight story but each book was a little long-winded.

The Host is also first person, sort of, and it has quite a bit of internal dialog, which is really part of the drama. But the pace is very quick. I could hardly put the book down. I think it helps to have seen SG1 and had an introduction to the Ga'oul and Tokra ( sp?) to get an idea of what a "soul" is. It was a very gripping story and although it has a definite ending I heard there may be a sequel called The Soul. I sure hope so. I really enjoyed this world/set up.

Twilight isn't about vampires, it's about teenagers with sharp teeth.
Vampires don't "sparkle" in the sun: they screech in horror, burst into flame and wither to ash.

I've read that last year, not bad but
Spoiler:
not the happiest of stories

I've just started Fahrenheit 451 by Bradbury. I'm going in for a bit of older sci-fi (I'll be reading Brave New World later on)

Dev, I agree, somewhat long too. Not the best put together book.
