Hey - welcome to !
Firefly obviously comes to mind first (always a Browncoat), but Terminator:SCC and FlashForward are both good mentions by the article. Dollhouse and Tru Calling maybe as well (love my Eliza. ). __________________

Firefly, Dark Angel, The Cape, Moonlight, Dollhouse, Tru Calling, Terminator: TSCC, Flashfoward, The Gates, for starters In terms of Sci-fi/Fantasy shows, almost none of my favorites end up sticking.

How about the SiFi Channel's "The Invisible Man"?
Although I wondered about their "Buck Rogers" series, ending with several characters stranded "over there". It's as bad as SG-Universe, ending in the middle of a story arc. Not that I was that keen on either one, but both were chopped off before they naturally ended. If a series has a long-term goal, then the series should end with that goal being accomplished, like defeating the Ori, getting Voyager or the Destiny's crew back home, etc. See "Buffy the Vampire Slayer's" windup. __________________

Actually, Buffy the Vampire Slayer didn't end too well, and Angel ended even less well.
I can't think right now of all the shows liked which were cancelled beforre their time. Kindred: The Embraced comes to mind. The main actor (Mark Frankel) was killed in a morotcycle crash and he was the greatest strength of the show. Really talented actor too, but he's not known, because he died before his career could take off. __________________

I agree with Buffy - that's a show that might have been better off ending before it did - it lost something when it moved to UPN. And the final scene on WB - her "saving the world a lot" - would have been a fitting tribute IMO (despite most of that season being dire - Glory was not a good villain). At least compared to the very poor finale we got.

Oh, I liked the way Buffy ended. Her job was to protect the world from the vampires, and she did. Permanently. Angel was worse, ending before their last (?) battle. "Everybody killed" isn't a happy ending.

I may just be bitter because they killed off Anya.

I like to think they somehow saved the day. Technically wouldn't they have had to of, because it was the end of the world they were trying to stop and the comics show Buffy Season 8, meaning the world kept going....
Firefly and Dollhouse are big ones for me. And I wish there had been at least a full second season to Tru Calling. __________________

Definitely Moonlight.
And then Tru Calling and probably Dark Angel. Quote:

ReGenesis - I know that it had 4 seasons, but I would like more. It has been my favorite TV show.
Roswell - well season 3 was a mess, but still I think that it deserved better stories and ending. FlashForward - it had a lot of potential, I liked the idea. The 4400 - I definitely did not like the ending (the whole promise city sounded interesting). John Doe - very good idea, but the ending was awful. __________________

Glory was a pain. Quote:
And there wasn't any end of the world that wasn't stopped by the end of Buffy and Angel. The cliffhanger at the end of Angel didn't threaten the world, just a few blocks of LA or the whole of LA at most. __________________

So many... recently shows like V, Flashforward and Moonlight.
Point Pleasant was never given a chance. Angel had five seasons, a good run, but it was on top when it went out - it definitely deserved at least two more. Buffy had good eps throughout (although 6 & 7 are my least favorite seasons). I don't mind so much that it ended, as that there's still no new Buffyverse show on the air! Roswell should have gotten a third season. With time travel and everything already part of the plot, I'm sure they'd have brought back Alex and done some cool stuff with the alien enemies. |
