You know, that's going to be a fabulous set of movies.

Twilight isn't about vampires, it's about teenagers with sharp teeth.
Vampires don't "sparkle" in the sun: they screech in horror, burst into flame and wither to ash.

Actually, according to the article Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan are working on a trilogy of vampire books, not movies. Who knows, maybe if the books are successful there will eventually be movies.

I just finished watching 'Kindred: The Embraced' for the first time. Over all, I really liked it, but there were only 8 episodes. Was this ever added to? I recognized quite a few actors that really added to the fun.

Anyone else see this show, and if so what did you think?

I watched it when it aired back in 1996, there are no more episodes because the show was cancelled due to the main actor dying in real life... Is it now finally on DVD?! If only First Wave, GvsE and Dark Skies would get onto a box set one day.....

More semi-decent scifi shows that don't seem to get any respect.

First Wave was about Alien Invasion and Conspiracy theories.
Good vs Evil was just about that.
Dark Skies was vaguely XFiles'ish, but much darker.

Dukesmom, you know, they're writing the novels to eventually be a movie. Just like the last 2 books of Harry Potter.

Kindred has been on dvd for ages. Mediocre show but with good actors. Dark Skies didn't impress me. Like X-Files but way lamer.

I've liked the movie adaptations, I agree they could be way better, but I guess it's finding that director that will take it there.
Twilight seems to be all over the place now. I saw the trailer for the movie and I wasn't impressed.

Anne Rice? Hardly an example of quality fiction. And Interview with the Vampire's film adaption was painful in the extreme.

He's a fantastic director and would like to see him take on a vampire movie.
Pan's Labyrinth was a masterpiece. I wasn't very impressed with the first Hellboy, haven't seen the second yet. I'm wondering how the Hobbit will turn out. He'll probably use Ian McKellan unfortunately, one of Peter Jackson's many miscastings. It's a pity Alec Guinness wasn't still around and magically stuck at the age he did Star Wars. He knew how to do that sort of role right. Richard Harris too, but he's kicked the bucket as well. I wanted him for Gandalf before the LOTR films were made. But they picked McKellan, who ruined another good character in X-Men. Miscastings, miscastings... I've just been watching the mother of all miscastings, Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. God help us. That is NOT Darth Vader.

Isn't there a HBO vampire show supposed to come out some time?

true blood, it's already out.

Not sure how much you'll like it though, it's got Anna Paquin in it.

They use the 4 letter C word that ends with unt a lot, as does season 3 of Dexter.

I liked how Dark Skies was one 'mythology' conspiracy that took place in real events in our real recent past (the 1960s.)

The books are so much better than the show, True Blood, on HBO. I'm still watching, but if they mess up Eric, one of my favorite characters, as much as most of the others then I won't watch past this season. Eric's had about 3 minutes of screen time so far and will probably only be in a few more episodes before I make my decision.

Most of the story that Alan Ball has added is excess baggage that weighs down the fast-paced story of the books. The books are more subtle, witty and believable ( character wise ).

Where Charlaine Harris would give 2 subtle clues about something, Alan Ball uses 10 obvious repeated clues and then to get some kind of twisty mystery throws a few red herrings in to contradict the obvious clues. It's the difference between a pen and ink drawing on one hand where the thickness of the brush and the pressure applied makes a very simple and elegant piece of art. While on the other hand you have a drawing made with a heavy, thick graphite pencil, with attempts to erase lines and redraw them resulting in a smudged mess.

The only reason I'm still watching is because I have become an Alexander Skarsgard fan and hope he gets to play the "Eric" from the books. Otherwise I'm finished with HBO.

Has anyone been tuning in to this new show called "Fringe"?

I've really come to like it. It's like a modernized X-Files, dealing in paranormal and unexplainable cases.

Clint, I liked that about Dark Skies as well. Plus, it was period set, which is always challenging for an actor. It's nice to see them work.

Kathy, from what little I've read of the books, I'd have to agree. I'm not fond of the show all that much, but I can see how people would like it.

ms. M, I'm watching fringe, however, I wouldn't liken it to XFiles as much. It's much more single minded, that's a bigger story being told.

I only compare it to X-files because of the similarity of an FBI agent being drawn into these unexplainable cases.

Mulder was drawn in..

Then in Fringe, Josh Jackson's character doesn't want to be a part of it, doesn't believe...

Scully was like that in the beginning, didn't want to believe.

I don't mean to compare the show's story ideas or acting, but the similarities in the introductions if that makes sense.
