True. But it's still so sad, she was great in the movie, to think what could have been you know.

I completely agree. She was deffinitely on the rise and could have done a lot. She sang well, danced well, acted well...I would have liked to have seen what she could have done, given the time to mature.

Twilight isn't about vampires, it's about teenagers with sharp teeth.
Vampires don't "sparkle" in the sun: they screech in horror, burst into flame and wither to ash.

Exactly.

And then you look at some of Hollywood's young stars and think, they have it all, yet they don't give it the respect they should.

For example:

Lindsay Lohan COULD be a great actress if she would just clean up her act and revise her priorities!

I think Lindsay's into the could have been category now...too much has passed, and too much has been done. She'll get roles, but they won't be what she could have had.

I agree.

Hilary Duff is the same, she hasn't gotten into the trouble like Lindsay has, but she's more mature now, time to do roles that are not disney movies.

That would be something, to see Hilary Duff as a vampire...good god could you imagine..lol

I thought the Queen of the Damned movie was a terrible, terrible adaptation of the novel. I remember sitting there in the theatre, not knowing whether to laugh my head off, or cry, because it was so bad.

I started reading Anne Rice when I was like around 12, I suppose, so I always have a soft-spot in my heart for her Vampire Chronicles QotD was my favourite book in the series. I dont think I've ever had some much dislike for a movie adaptation in my life.

Part of the problem was that it tried using elements from The Vampire Lestat AND QotD, and it was just too much and they cut so much out..and it was just..bad. Plus, some of the choices for actors were waaaaay off. I could go on and on

My opinion ofcourse

As for Twilight..I enjoy the series for what it is..a mindless read. Its not very well writen, and the characters and storylines are kinda lame. And since when to vamps sparkle? But..it is what it is. My favourite character is probably Jacob..which I wasn't expecting. I usually love Vampire characters

ETA: Oh..I just noticed Cryostar's sig about the vamp sparkle Glad to see I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Hiya Catherine.

I enjoyed QoTD the movie for what it was. After interview with a vampire, I realized that they'd never get the novels into a movie right, not in anyway that mainstream public would ever enjoy.

The books were so so for me. She took a lot of liberties with the vampire mythos, though I get that they were supposed to be something so much more. Ultimately, she'll ruin it by publishing this last book, in which Lestat finds God.

I havent kept up to date with the vampire chronicles anyways..I think the last one I read was The Vampire Armand, from 10 years ago.
Once she started the whole crossover thing with the Mayfair witches I didnt really continue..

ahh yes, and I remember her dramatically declaring that she would never again return to writing about vampires.

Ah, but she's re-declared that she will, but only to redeem Lestat, and have him find God.

I enjoy the Twilight books, but they are kind of fluff, nothing like Anne Rice and the history she creates for her vampire characters.

I've liked the movie adaptations, I agree they could be way better, but I guess it's finding that director that will take it there.

One director that I really am coming to like is Guillermo Del Toro (spelling?). He's the director of Pan's Labyrinth, The Orphanage, Hell Boy and is now set to direct J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit.

He's a fantastic director and would like to see him take on a vampire movie.

Well, I dn't know bout that, but he's going to be directing Frankenstein, and I agree. The man is absolutely fantastic. His movies are so vivid and lively.
