Both to some extent. I think the re-imagining took away a lot of the uniqueness of the story and was too predictable. Some of the performances were fine while others left me bored. I've seen Zooey Deschanel in other things (in fact, I saw her in Bridge to Terabithia a day or 2 after watching Tin Man and thought she did a good job) but I didn't like her portrayal of DG.

Yeah alot of people were saying they didn't like Zooey Deschanel as DG, (my dad included) but I disagree. I really loved the way she deadpanned some of the lines. The way she reacted in the caves after finding out- well we all know what she found out, I don't want to spoil it for lurkers who haven't seen it yet.-
I loved the way she said ,"'Your adventures have a way of getting me into trouble.' remember? You told me that." And when she sang the two little princesses song.

She talks so much like her sister, I was expecting David Borneaz to show up at some point.

Honestly though, i guess the part I liked is that it seemed to be "freakier" than the original Wizard, and thus a bit closer to the books.

this miniseries was alright, but it seemed like they forgot to write in an ending cause it just ends abruptly after the witch is defeated and DG says some lame line like "it's good to be home", and the credits roll! wtf!

You can't go too far past the ending....after all, you have to start the Sequel someplace.....can you think about a re-imagining of Return to Oz?

As long as the leave out the Wheelers I'd watch it lol. I can still remember the nightmares those creepy things induced.

The Wheelers and the Gnome King *shudders* oh and creepy momby with those heads. I did love Jack though. I think he was my favorite part of that whole movie.

I think I've tried to block any and all memories from that movie from my head......I cried for days on it.

I think I still have it somewhere in my shed with all the old VHS tapes from my childhood.

So I watched something the other day on some site, it was an interview with the creators and along with confirming the subtle hints of a Cain and DG relationship (making my little shipper heart squee) they commented that if the writers weren't on strike right now there could possibly be a sequel in the works. I don't know if that means once the strike is over there could be or if it was just a random comment but it's something.

I'll try to find the link and post it here so you guys can see it.

So here's a question, should we open this thread up to more things Oz? I mean, he wrote like 20+ books on the whole world, and there's a bigger world out there.
