So they fix the recent past? Isn't that somewhat dangerous?

Vampires don't "sparkle" in the sun: they screech in horror, burst into flame and wither to ash.

That's exactly it. They fix mistakes that have happened within the last 7 days. For example. There was a toxic spill and he jumps into his "pod" not to much unlike what we've seen in "Time Cop" and he is hurled into the recent past to prevent the toxic spill and as always, something goes wrong.

Yeah, but I'm not even talking about something that might go wrong, it's kind of the thought that, if you go back and prevent the Titanic from sinking, one of the people that is supposed to die ends up conquering the world or enslaving human kind....

Which is pretty much the whole problem with traveling back in time. "Butterfly Effect." "Grandfather Paradox." Whatever you want to call it, there are too many things that can go wrong.

Exactly, which is why I don't like time travel all that much....you might erase yourself.

Someone responding to a Sarah Connor blog elsewhere mentioned a theory that if you were to go back in time you would be going to an alternate timeline and therefore any changes you made would not effect your original timeline.

Has anyone read The Redemption of Althalus by David & Leigh Eddings? There is time travel left and right in this book. Slowing down time, speeding it up, walking through a door to a different time, etc.

Has anyone seen the BBC series Primeval? Here's the plot according to imdb.com:When strange anomalies in time start to appear all over England, Professor Cutter and his team have to help track down and capture all sorts of dangerous prehistoric creatures from Earth's distant past.

I keep seeing the promos when I'm watching the tapes of Robin Hood a friend makes for me.

It will air on BBC America in the U.S. I don't know what ITV is.

eta: I finally saw the new Indiana Jones movie Saturday and Primeval was one of the promos shown before the real previews started.

Time travel confuses me. You'd think even minor changes might have major repercussions for the future.

I agree. The effect is underestimated in fiction I think.

Have you watched Timeless? In that show they did something that caused one of the lead character's sister to not be born.

Yes, it did see the episode!

I think we would have things to discuss to create a new thread.
