But I really hated it. I knew it was coming, because I had seen pics of the actor. But still

Looking forward to the second ep

I think that after everything that happened, he was desperate for a moment to himself. Five minutes to just forget the hell he's being through and will have to go through. Then again for John it's pretty hard to forget who he is and is meant to be when everything around him is a constant reminder. Maybe he decided to cut his hair as a distraction from all the chaos that surrounds him, to have five minutes to collect himself.

I think it was too soon for another montage... just impossible to live up to what they did in the finale.

There was some good stuff though. We're seeing John start to assert himself. Enough years of everyone telling you you're destined to be the great leader who saves humanity and you're going to start trusting your own instincts and making your own decisions from time to time. It'll be interesting to see how that dynamic shapes up between him and his mother.

TV's Slippery New Terminator: Burning Questions!

Fox's Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles launched its second season by unveiling its own take on the big screen's mercurial T-1000 killing machine. In what ways does TV's T-1001 differ from the previous model? How does Garbage singer Shirley Manson feel about going from underground rock to heavy "metal"? And where does Glenn Close fit into it all? Here, the singer turned actress answers many burning questions. (Sarah Connor airs Mondays at 8 pm/ET.) — Matt Mitovich

Um, why pose as a urinal?
"Why not?" Manson retorts. Asked by TVGuide.com if perhaps it was some sort of "inside joke," she says, "I don’t think it is…. I think [series creator Josh Friedman] liked the idea of a woman… being able to infiltrate somewhere where a man felt he was very safe…. That was a true terror."

How did Manson react when she learned that her character, icy-cold CEO Catherine Weaver, is in fact a terminator?

"I got very excited and jumped at the opportunity," she says. "It's very, very surreal."

Will Catherine eventually go mano a mano with Cameron?
"I don’t know; they really don’t tell us much about what's going to happen," she says. "We learn on a need to know basis." (As of last week, Manson had yet to film scenes with any primary cast members outside of Richard T. Jones.) Besides, Cameron may be no match for a T-1001. "Being a top-of-the-range model, I don’t know if she needs to get her hands dirty," says Manson. "That might be the only downside to my character."

What does one get "extra" with a T-1001?
"I'm not sure what she can do that Robert Patrick couldn’t do [in T2]. That's a question for Josh Friedman. I suppose we will find out!"

If Manson isn't channeling Robert Patrick, who is her muse?
"I thought a lot about Glenn Close in Damages, because I felt she was very threatening and powerful. It's rare when you see a woman who you truly believe is capable of unworldly deeds. I also thought of Margaret Thatcher. She was a… seemingly unassailable character when I was growing up, and I didn’t think very kindly of her."

Is Catherine the epitome of the "boss from hell"?
"I am… but there's a really nice surprise coming up with my character, which I obviously can't reveal right now," she teases. "But I am a woman from hell, let's put it that way."

"How" does Manson morph into a T-1001?

"I act the scene out, and then I have to go stand in a flesh[-colored] body suit and have my entire body and face scanned 360 degrees," she says. "They compile a digital manifestation of my physicality, and then do with that what they will."

Did Manson jump at the chance to croon "Samson & Delilah" for the season premiere's opening montage?

"To be honest, I was a little wary…. I didn’t want to remind the audience that I was a singer. At the end of the day, I bent to [Josh Friedman's] will and did it as a favor to him."

What does Garbage mate Butch Vig think of Manson's "killer" role?

"He wrote me a very quick email saying, 'F---ing awesome. I loved it, Queenie,'" she shares. "Everybody thinks it's really funny."

Will Manson continue with her music?

"Yes. I'm not a huge lead on the show, so I have plenty of downtime…. I'm intending actually to go in and start recording some songs next month. We'll see if I manage to pull it off."

OK tonights episode it

Poor Sarah, The cancer arc is going to be a long and hopefully good one. She is a warrior but that is something that she can't shoot...

John, I'm glad he is growing up and shaved his hair off. But the way he treats his mom is poo. I mean I know he has special circumstances....but um bringing a person you just met into your home with a TERMINATOR...not so much. Btw Riley, I surprisingly like her.

Cameron, awesomeness. I loved the whole Car accident echo with her and Sarah.. and the pool was great.

At the end it was kind Erie, I mean they are a family, but they are also a army.

I kind of had a problem with John in this episode too. He was kind of an a%@ in this episode. Like...I mean really? Future leader or not, respect your mom. I also totally disagree with his "I don't have anything to prove to anyone" bit. Uh...yeah I think you do. Just because someone from the future says that you're supposed to be the leader of the human race doesn't mean that you don't have to do anything. You don't become a leader because the future says so. It's through actions. And being pissy is not an action. Also being a leader in the future does not mean he's the leader right now. So suck it up. Maybe I just expect too much from him. But a lot happened in the last episode so I'll forgive him this one.

I find it odd that Riley slept over. Like..do her parents not care or did I miss something about her parents because I was more interesting in the nuclear plant?

Other than that I really liked the episode. I really like the Sarah and Cameron moments. They work well together.

i actually found sarah rather annoying this ep... i mean come on, john is a "man" now... stop babying him and realize you are not always going to be around to protect him... clearly, if she dies from cancer... but at the same time, there is probably only so much time left and to know you are going to die... she wants every last moment she can have... its really a catch-22 which makes it understandable from every angle... although i thought john was suppose to grow up this season and take responsibility for being a leader... umm hooking up with a girl you know nothing about and who could be anyone is the most immature thing you could have done... good one!

summer continues to be the bright spot for me! she is soo good as cameron and watching her play a robot is enlightening ... the pool scene was my favorite... without cameron sarah wouldnt have been able to get out of there alive imo... maybe she will stop treating cameron as a threat and just accept her as a part of their team now... probably not, sarah is soo stubborn

im soo glad brian/derek is still around!... i hope they use his character more in the future... even though i know they will all have their own eps to be explored, its just nice that he's on the show... same with dean winters

next week should be good

Exactly! I was like 'WTF!, he's only just met the girl that day!'

Definitely an ass But this may have been due to what happened in the previous episode (Did John kill that guy, or was it Sarah?)

Those were great 'Car accident'

Overall it was a good episode, it just didn't match the awesomeness of the first

Saw the episode today and I thought it was pretty cool.

I feel bad that Sarah is still worrying that she might get cancer. Wonder if they would ever do that to this Sarah on the show or if they'll eventually stay true to the movies in that aspect?

I truly felt bad for Cameron when she was feeling that baby. And then [Busy Phillips] said that she used to be in Sarah's womb a long time ago. Poor Cameron was a machine not human. This is the second time where I have to remind myself of that this season; first when Cameron said she loved John and then this.

Cameron and Sarah were great together.

And I'm real curious about that guy that was sent back from the future the one that died. Clearly an agent future John sent but I'm interested in the back story.

Second episode and all ready we got a quick glance at the future which looked sweet!

And again, Summer ceases to amaze me. She's amazing in everything (and not just her role on Terminator but it other roles as well). She really makes it believable that she plays a cyborg.

I think everyone is being hard on John and Sarah. As a writer I understand that they have to delve into each of these characters. What they go through and sometimes the ugly moments that each person has where they aren't at 'their best'.

John is growing I think. In this episode he's trying to assert himself. Although he does it in a really crappy way. Treating his mom like that and behaving like a teen (although basically that's what he is so you could understand that idea for a second). It's like we expect him not to feel this way, not to act like a teen and almost kind of be resentful that he can't be like everyone else. But I do think he probably went through that as a teen...on his way to being a leader. I'm sure there will be fall out to the way he's thinking lately.

The idea that he's got this huge weight on his shoulders and it makes him not like everyone else. I think that's just been pressing on him lately. I think that moment in the hallway was really evident of that. Feeling isolated and watching the 'normalcy' of everything.

As for the freakin sleepover! That was just stupid! I don't think they probably 'slept' together. But still, I was like, 'What the hell is she still doing at this house in the morning?' Although after last night, I don't feel AS threatened for the Cam/John relationship. I liked Riley enough, but I don't see them having a fairytale romance or even an angst ridden one. I didn't feel the chemistry. But you never know, they might push it on us. But eventually I think she will either end up a casualty or someone left behind in the 'time/space continum'

I hate the beginning of the parting of ways between Cam/John though. It tears me apart to watch that. Cam doesn't quite understand. I know John doesn't want to do it, but I think he knows he needs to almost separate himself from her, evident of his 'feelings' for her when he 'saved' her life. I think it will make him stronger. But I also think it will bring a lot of pain and hurt along the way, physically and mentally.

With Sarah, I don't know that they'd never mentioned that she never got cancer in the movies. So it could be a possibility. It really shortens her character's life in away if they want to go longer with her in a way, unless she's miraculously cured or something is done in the past to change it. Which I don't see how.

I think that the talk Cameron had with John (small as it may have been) really affected him. The concept of not trusting her was an issue now. And when she shocks him with the idea that HE wasn't to be trusted, trying to derail something that has been 'destined' for him since forever ago, is really hard.

Summer Glau, wow. I can't wait to watch episode 4 - which is solely about her. Everything about her is understated unless it's moments where she's crying out to 'save' her life.

The relationship between Sarah/Cam here in this episode was evident too. A hint that Sarah somewhat 'cares' about Cam. I mean she ran through radiation to 'save' her. I know it might have just been about Cam being the only one to stop the nuclear meltdown of the plant, but I think it was something more. Even though in the last episode she was ready to melt her down to metal rubbish.

And though Derek wasn't really 'present' in the episode, what scenes he did have was very intense. I just love the tension he brings to the screen with Sarah. And not necessarily 'sexual' tension. But what he believes and the methods he will use to achieve his goals are completely different than hers. It makes for great television.

I love all the intricacies of each of the characters relationships and how they work off each other. The dynamics of this cast draws me in. I am a wholehearted shipping when I watch tv. And I have my ships here. Cam/John and Sarah/Derek. But that's NOT what makes me watch this show. It doesn't keep me glued or excited that it comes every week.

The writers and cast have made these characters so accessible. They've made them real to me. They make me feel things the characters feel and what they're going through. Like I'm living it with them.

I just love this show. Every plot twist and character arc. It's what keeps me glued.

I commend the Friedman and the writing staff. I can't imagine what they could've done with a 22 episode arc last season!
