SeaQuest Appreciation #1: For beneath the surface lies the future!

The 21st century. Mankind has colonised the last unexplored region on Earth - the ocean. As captain of seaQuest and its crew, we are its guardians. For beneath the surface lies the future.

seaQuest 2000 - awesome seaQuest page

Screen caps & sound files: I just downloaded Krieg singing "Cheeseburger in Paradise" from this site. Had totally forgotten about that scene.

Any other Questies on here? I'm just re-discovering how much I loved this show!

Of course, the reason I watched it in the first place was because I was totally in love with Jonathan Brandis , but I quickly fell in love with the other characters too, and watched my taped episodes so many times I could probably recite them backwards in my sleep. I loved Seaquest. I have most likely seen every episode more times than I can count. I hadn't heard about Jonathan Brandis, why is it always the cute ones. Anyways before I cry I will move on. I think one of my favorite moments was when Dagwood took Piccalo's pants because of a bet. The fact that the two involved are brothers in real life made that whole thing twice as funny.

Ah, so there is someone else out there who loved this show. Was starting to think my thread was gonna drop off the board with no replies.

I have quite a few eps on tape, which I found at my parents' place recently. I've lost about half of the season 1 eps though, and season 3 was never played in full here in Australia. But just the other day I found someone on ebay selling a collection of VCDs with almost every ep (just one season 3 ep missing), and decided that was something I had to have. I know. Did you know that Royce Applegate who played Chief Crocker in season one died last year too?

I always loved scenes with Piccolo and Dagwood. There was that ep where their dad was playing Piccolo's dad, and their other brother played a bouncer in that ep too. There's this one scene with 4 DeLuises in it.

yeah I heard that Applegate died in some sort of house fire. It's so sad. I keep looking out for the actors from the show. I have seen both Marco Sanchez and John D'Aquino on JAG. Recently I found a local TV station that is airing old 21 Jump Street eps. It starred Peter Deluise and Johnny Depp. There was one ep where Dom Deluise played Penhall's(Peter)uncle and Michael played the younger version of Peter. Eventually Michael joined the regular cast and there were some really good scenes between the two, just like in Seaquest. I only have a handfull of eps on tape but I wish I had more. Maybe someday it will come out on dvd.

I always get excited when I see a former sQ person on some other TV show. I remember seeing John D'Aquino on 3rd Rock From the Sun once and I was just so happy to see Krieg again. Krieg was my second fave character (after Lucas of course) so I was kinda bummed when he got the boot after season 1.

Always wanted him and Hitchcock to get back together. I was watching the ep "Such Great Patience" the other day, the one where they found the aliens, and there was this moment where Krieg was talking about how awesome it all was, and Hitchcock said she was gonna recommend him to be in the boarding party. Twas a loverly Ben/Katie moment, gave me warm fuzzies.

There are a couple of sites where you can do something about getting sQ released on DVD. There's a petition here, and if you register at TVShowsonDVD.com you can vote for it there, too. I had to snap up the VCDs from ebay though. Only bad thing is its gonna be my b'day present so I've gotta wait til Feb 22 before I can watch 'em. Michael and Peter DeLuise were on SeaQuest? LOL - I used to watch 21 Jump Street all the time, and Peter now does a lot of work on Stargate SG-1 (just last week they aired an ep where both brothers played major characters). I didn't realize that Rockne O'Bannon of Farscape fame created the show either ... such a small world. I watched SeaQuest occassionally when it first aired, but never really got into it much.

Yup, the DeLuise boys joined the show in season 2.

Michael's character was Tony Piccolo, who'd been in jail but had his sentenced reduced when he'd become part of this research/experiment thingo which meant he ended up with gills and could breathe underwater.

Peter's character was Dagwood, who was the prototype for these genetically engineered soldiers which were known as "Daggers". Being the prototype, he didn't turn out quite right though. Big, tough, strong guy, but a big softie with a heart of gold, and he had the intellect of a little kid, too...not much good as a soldier, so he ended up on seaQuest though I don't remember exactly how.

And something I'd totally forgotten about until I read it on a site I found recently, Peter actually had a bit part in a season 1 ep, too.

Ok remind me, what episode in season one was Peter in? I really don't remember although I have most likely seen the ep. at least ten times.

The ep's called "Whale Song". The only description of the ep I've found online is:

A renegade sub is sinking whaling ships, which are in themselves illegal. Against their moral judgement, the crew of seaQuest must stop the sub from its mission.

His characters's name was Wiggins. I can vaguely remember him as one of the crew on the renegade sub. I found a site which has transcripts of some episodes here and was hoping they'd have "Whale Song" so I could re-fresh my memory, but they don't have that particular ep.

They do have a transcript of "Photon Bullet" though, the one where Lucas went to Node Three and met Julianna and Nick (played by Seth Green of course, who also co-starred with Jon Brandis in "IT"...hey Raonaild, what's that you were saying about it being a small world? ).

The dude who played Mycroft in that ep ended up as a Vulcan on Star Trek. I've never been a ST fan, but if I happen to catch an ep with him in it I've gotta watch, just because he was in one of my fave sQ eps.

"Photon Bullet" is one of the eps I don't have on tape anymore, and it was one of my faves (not surprising as it was all about Lucas ) so I read the transcript on that site and saw the whole thing in my head instead of being able to watch it. Loved this bit:

Bridger: There's also been a request for a visit from Mr. Lucas Wolenczak.
Lucas: Oh, I see, so as soon as there's a computer problem I'm back in favor. Well I'm not going and you can't make me. There are such things as child labor laws you know. (Krieg clears his throat and puts his hand on Lucas's shoulder.)
Bridger: (surprised) Where's this coming from?
Lucas: I wanna get paid. Everyone else gets paid, why shouldn't I? What's wrong with that? And I don't want an allowance, I want a salary.
Bridger: OK.
Lucas: I'm the one that keeps everything running.
Bridger: Oh, really? Everything? (Lucas leaves)

Then at the end of the ep, Bridger does actually pay him and Lucas is like: "Captain, I don't think this is enough." Smartarse. It's all coming back to me, reading these transcripts of eps I haven't seen in years.

Thanx for the reminder. I recently read on the imdb website that Peter and his Anne Marie Loder are expecting their first child this May. Congrats to Peter on that.

SeaQuest! It was a lot of fun.

I particularly liked Lonnie Henderson... forget the actress' name. I haven't seen her in anything since except commercials.

Her name is Kathy Evison. I have seen her on 7th Heaven and an episode of the Pretender since her run on Seaquest.

That's right, thanks.

Pretender? Hmm... I must have missed that ep. I stopped watching it regularly at one point.

Here's a link to Kathy's listing on imdb, in case you wanna know what eps of shows she was in.

I had a slight aversion to Lonnie in the beginning, but that's just because I was bitter that they'd dumped Hitchcock (one of my fave characters) after season 1 and Henderson was kinda like her replacement. Watching the season 2 eps now though, Henderson doesn't bug me like she did back then, so I think I must be officially over the bitterness.
