I thought the beginning was kind of cheesy, you know when they had two characters(atlantians) at Atlantis... it seemed B movie like.

I to thought they would try and find the city, not have main base there.
Alot of things don't make since.. The guy just finds out there are aliens and hes boom smack dab in it and excepting it...
Time will tell...
The girl was ok, but I want some down to earth(no pun intended) girls.

Yeah, Sheppard was really calm about the whole thing. That's also what reminded me of Jack. I can't see either of them freak out and run away screaming because they realized there were aliens in the universe Maybe the whole thing just hadn't hit Sheppard yet, and he's kinda just going with the flow since he's got nothing better to do. I do want them to address the whole thing though, you know, in one of those male bonding things with Aiden.

Well, I figured they were prepared to set up base there, since it was unlikely that they could ever come home. They burned up the reactor going one way, right? They didn't have a choice. What I don't get is why they don't ask the Asgard to beam 'em back every once in a while? I'm sure they'd have the technology to travel between galaxies. The little grey guys should be able to do anything.

Those are somewhat my thoughts on Atlantis, Scorpio....

Weir - Not so sure about, I don't like nay-sayers very much.

McKay and Beckette - ROCKED

Mjr - I like his wit, but the jury's still out.

Ford - Please don't make him act like a 13 year old any more.

Teyla - somewhat annoying.....

Wraith - I might like the goa'uld better.

In all though, it's intriguing. Intriguing enough for me to start watching more and see what else they say about the show andn how they develop it.

Arg, Suz- I wish I got the Sci Fi channel. In Canada they've just wrapped up season five, it comes on every day though. I just found out that I could watch Atlantis on tv (yeah, as in not downloaded) so five minutes before the episode I ordered the channel. It was so cool, they played the entire 2 hours straight, no commercials.

Yeah, but they get the Space channel, which still has a ton of good shows on it, more so that Sci Fi and it's original "Movies".

Which re-runs were on?

'Stargate' a blast for SciFi
Variety
Denise Martin, Staff

Sci Fi Channel's "Stargate Atlantis" skyrocketed out of the gate Friday, grabbing the biggest rating of any series in the channel's history.

Premiere netted 4.2 million overall viewers, propelling Sci Fi to the top spot in ad-supported cable for the night. Skein, which posted a 1.7 national rating/6 share in 18-49 and a 2.1/6 in 25-54, also ranked as the No. 1 show on cable for the day among those key demos.

Bow for "Atlantis" eclipsed that of the previous ratings record holder -- the eighth-season premiere of "Stargate SG-1" -- with 30% more viewers tuning in. "Atlantis" stands as the first episode of any series on Sci Fi to draw a crowd of more than 4 million viewers.

Program performed especially well in the male 18-49 (2.0/8) and 25-54 (2.6/9) categories.

Encore showing at 11 p.m. delivered an impressive 2.2 million total viewers.

Yeah, I shouldn't knock Space... it's good too, just not great with keeping up with the rest of the world. They just finshed season five, so now they're looping back to season one... since they can't play anything past season five for some reason. Anyway, seeing tiny versions of the new episodes on my computer is better than nothing

How awesome were those ratings! I saw them at Gateworld, it made me happy The season 8 premiere of Stagate-SG1 must have helped too though. It's going to be the lead in for Atlantis for the rest of the season, so hopefully both shows will do great.

I'm glad the ratings for both shows were good..

I just adore Jack and Daniel... I actually love all the characters, but the banter between these two good friends is to funny.

Jack- Daniel, find your happy place.... snicker I love that line

Oh favorite Jack/Daniel lines!

Daniel: "It's like we just stepped into the citadel at Mycenae."
O'Neill: "I thought you said it was Greek."
Daniel: "Oh, Mycenae was an ancient city in the Southern Pelopponesian region."
O'Neill: "Where's that?"
Daniel: "Greece."
O'Neill: "Why do I do that?"

That was really good- you know on any other show they would have slipped by the hair thing and made it seem like Teal'c always looked that way. Just like Jack to be facing certain death, and start going on about Teal'c's hair
