| Okay, so I have finished reading Roger Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber for about the tenth time, and am currently in the process of re-reading The Last Herald Mage trilogy by Mercedes Lackey. I want to get Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Terry Goodkind's Naked Empire this summer, but... I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? __________________ | |||

It's the story of these simple hobbits who go out to save the world and in the process see the world. And when they return, which is what they wanted all along, they find that the shire isn't the whole world as they remembered it to be. I didn't get it, I still don't get it but I can live with it. | Well I'm not going to mention Hyperion again stinky, b/c I know how much I've been harping on Hyperion and I know you don't want to hear another word about Hyperion again. So I'll stop and won't mention Hyperion again.... I swear Hyperion will be the last thing I say and it'll never type the word Hyperion again... Even though it's like a collection of 7 stories all told by different perpectives brought together to go to the Time Tombs and every perspectives makes the pieces of the puzzle come closer together .... And then the Shrike w/ his piercing blades enveloping his body while his red eyed glare marks your death... Actually I'm waiting for The Years of Rice and Salt when it's available for paperback, so that's on my list when I order from Amazon again. They still haven't listed Dune: The Butlerian Jihad for preorder yet either... I'm so pissed since I've been waiting a year for it b/c I didn't want to buy it in hardback. Then I'll finish off the Ender series w/ Children of the Mind just to conclude it b/c i'll probably have an itch for it after Xenocide. Then i'll consider reading pt 2 of Memory of Earth, is it Call of Earth? .. but before that I have to finish Forward the Foundation b/c that's my last new book I have on my shelf. .... Hyperion. Damn!! And I was doing so good by not mentioning Dan Simmonn's Hyperion.

| Hey all Can I ask you all a favour? If you want to discuss the ending of a book, please put a spoiler-space in. It's just in case someone who comes on here hasn't read the end of the book and doesn't want it spoiled for them. Thanks guys __________________ No Signature Required | |||

| I finished FOTR the other day and now I'm reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I figured I better catch up on the series before the new book comes out next month. | |||

I'm reading The Goblet of Fire again, also. It's my favorite of the series so far. Probably because the characters are maturing. I love her charactizations and how her characters evolve, but I have to keep reminding myself that the books are for the 'younger' crowd because I find myself becoming very annoyed at how they deal with problems. I spent a long time and much money in a used book store over the weekend. It's been so long since I've gone book shopping.

| I'm reading all the HP books to my daughter, we're currently on TPoA and I'm not sure whether to read Goblet of Fire to her as it might be a little harsh for a five yr old. I've just been reading The Redemption of Althalus by David/Leigh Eddings, I wish someone had told me not to bother. It's not the best work they have ever done. __________________ No Signature Required | |||

| I'll be doing the same and come the 21st, when I have my grubby mits on my copy, I'll be locking the door and taking the phone of the hook. ETA: There is also a new SF/F book thread on the book board here Also there is a Harry Potter Books discussion back on books board . There will be a LoTR book thread too, I'll post the link later. Having said that, don't go forgetting us now. [ 05-29-2003: Message edited Miss Cranky-Pants ] __________________ No Signature Required | |||

| Thanks for posting that. I figure the more places to talk sf/f the better. That said .. I've just reread Obsidian Butterfly and reread JMS's Midnight Nation. I keep planning to start on one of the Red dwarf novels better than life .. maybe I will this weekend if I don't go out and buy Kelley Armstrong's Stolen. I've been thinking of rereading the dragonlance and forgotten realm books then releasing them thru bookcrossing. So might go with that this weekend instead. | |||
