I thought for a minute that it was a new book by Orson Scott Card on the continuation of the Bean's story. Of all of the Ender & Shadow books, Ender's Game & Ender's shadow are the only good ones.

I know it wasn't possible, but the battleroom stories was exciting and the best thing about the books.

Twilight isn't about vampires, it's about teenagers with sharp teeth.
Vampires don't "sparkle" in the sun: they screech in horror, burst into flame and wither to ash.

The Dawn Star was good, my favorite book in Asaro's Luna series.

I read Skeen's Leap by Jo Clayton the other day and I wanted to like it, but I had too many problems with it. I will finish the trilogy though because I have to know what happens.

Now I'm reading The Dream-Maker's Magic by Sharon Shinn and I started Changelings by Anne McCaffrey and Elizabeth Ann Scarborough (but the Shinn book is due first at the library).

yossarin, I still haven't read any of the Ender books.

Andie, I have the first Honor Harrington book and I think I downloaded some from the Baen Free Library plus I have one of the spinoff books, but I haven't read them yet. I've read a lot of comments that compared them to Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan series, so I will probably like the Honor books too since I love Bujold.

I read teen sci-fi even though I should be out of that phase. the first books I bought were the Sweep series. I started rereading them before the hurricane but when I evacuated I only brought one with me so when I was done that was it. I didn't get home for 3 months so I never really picked up the rest.

I love the HP series. I've read them at least 3 times. I read The Hobbit when I was in high school for fun. I enjoyed it.

I've also read all Melinda Metz' Roswell High books. Also Meg Cabot's Mediator series is too cute. Oh and all the Narnia books. WOW! They were amazing. I never finished The Hitchhiker's Guide yet. I keep getting waylaid lately.

Have you read any of Tolkien's longer books?

I just got done reading Matriarch by Karen Traviss- the new book in her Wess'har Wars series. It was brilliant and amazing and thank god the next book is only six months away and the final book is only a year away.

The Skeen series by Clayton has gotten better. I read book two over the summer and I'm reading book three now.

Some of the recent highlights have been Sharon Shinn's books, another Liaden book by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller, Spin Control by Chris Moriarty, and Catherine Asaro's novella The Ruby Dice (I can't wait for the novel of the same name to come out next year. It's expanded from the novella and it looks like the Skolian series is finally picking up again after getting bogged down in prequels and several books that all told the same events from different characters' perspectives).

How do you like her Soz? I'm trying to read one of her Starwars books and I seem to have trouble getting into it.

Nope. My library in high school only had The Hobbit and I haven't been to my local library since the hurricane. I used to live there.

I love her Wess'har Wars series. In fact, I think it's the best SF series to come along in years. But I haven't read any of her Star Wars books yet.

You should try Simerillian...it's a fun book. If you can get through 200 pages, I'll give you a cookie or something.

Maybe I'll give those books a try....she's just so introspective....gah....FEELINGS>>>>NOOOOOO!

I've been reading YA and Juvenile fantasy with my son: Artemis Fowl and Gregor the Overlander. I like both series, especially Artemis Fowl. A co-worker recommended Charlie Bone so I'll try that series next.

As for adult reading, I've been on hiatus. I'm going to try out The Way of the Wolf by E. E. Knight. I'm currently paused in the middle of Fantasy Gone Wrong, Fistful of Charms, and Thud!.

I couldn't stay awake when I tried to read Skeen's Search, so I decided to read Alpha by Catherine Asaro instead. I haven't gotten very far into it yet though because I've been sick and then busy this week. I'm anxiously waiting for my library reserve book to come in: it's the new Lois McMaster Bujold book and it sounds so good!
