Sci-Fi Museum opens in Seattle

Museum salutes adventures of the sci-fi kind

Quote:
SEATTLE — Remember Captain Kirk's cheesy command chair in the "Star Trek" TV series? How about the Alien Queen, the horrifying predator from "Aliens"? Or would you like to see a half-scale model of the Sojourner Mars rover?

They'll all be on display when the Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame, the world's first museum of the genre, opens on Friday. You'll also find rare first-edition copies of sci-fi classics such as Ray Bradbury's "The Martian Chronicles" or H.G. Wells' "The Time Machine" and pulp magazines, plus weapons, costumes and props from almost any sci-fi movie you can name, from "E.T." to "Blade Runner."

Twilight isn't about vampires, it's about teenagers with sharp teeth.
Vampires don't "sparkle" in the sun: they screech in horror, burst into flame and wither to ash.

Paul Allen spend $20 million dollars on the musuem which officially opened yesterday. It's in the renovated section of the Experience Music Project.

Steven Spielberg was there.

I may go but I probably don't have the time. I live less then an hour away from Seattle.

So, has anyone visited this museum yet? A friend of mine visited her mother in Seattle recently but I totally forgot about this and I doubt she would have gone anyway - besides which she was there when that huge storm hit and knocked out the power for days. Her brother might find it interesting. I'll have to ask her if he's ever been.

I have not, though I know someone in Seattle, if she could get some spare time, that could try it out. I'll see if she's ever been.
