Sci-Fi/Fantasy Off Topic #4 - We made it to a new thread!

Guerro's and the Texas Chili Bar(?) are both featured prominently in the movie and both are favourites of Quentin when he's there (which apparently is a lot of the time).

I can't believe we made it to another thread...

Texas Chilli Parlor on Lavaca. I've never eaten there but the guides point it out on the Duck Tours. Quack Quack!

psst - Fantasy is missing the "y" in the title of this thread.

I was going to ask Jerry for a 'y' too.

Tour of mostly downtown Austin. Instead of a bus or van, they use an amphibious vehicle so that you can take a "dip" into Lake Austin (called the "Duck Pond" in the brochure). Each passenger is issued a Wacky Quacker at the beginning so that you can quack at various people you see during the tour. It is both amusing and informative.

Best thing about the Wacky Quackers? You can send them home with your niece and let your brother deal with the consequences.

Now that is such a mean thing to do......even though I've done it with my neices several times.

How's this for off-topic: while on a short road trip this past weekend, my friend and I were discussing games parents get kids to play to pass the time on trips. Next thing you know we are scanning license plates to see if we can "collect" all 50 states. We got almost halfway there and even saw a couple from Mexico and Canada.

I used to play that game when I was a kid - particularly during Expo '86, when there were loads of tourists driving to the city.

That's how we passed time when I worked in the parking lot at Six Flags. Worked really well.

When we took short trips we usually just played the alphabet license plate game and then numbers if we happened to finish. We also had a couple store bought games in which we collected various makes/models of cars.

Just in case anyone here qualifies: Happy Administrative Professionals' Day!

They had store bought games for car trips in the 70's. Even made travel versions of board games using either pegs or magnets so the pieces don't fly all over the place. Nowadays there are probably fewer of those types because so many people have video/DVD players so the kids can watch movies.
