This is a 1981 science fiction movie of a realistic science fiction type (no hyperdrives, no light speed, no laser guns, set on a mining colony on one of jupiter's moons). It reuses some stuff from High Noon -the lawman gets no support from most people when guys are coming to the colony to kill him. It's tense and atmospheric, with a good performance from Sean Connery in the lead. The setting, a cramped mining colony of some 2000 plus people set on jupiter's moon, works well to create a feel. There's a lot of people going pop when the encounter zero atmosphere (because the pressure builds up inside them), something which rarely happens in most screen sf. The head lawman, played by Connery, discovers there's a drug racket going on and the drug is causing people to go nuts and usually end up dead. The drug is being shipped in because it promotes better ability at work. The head of the mining colony is involved. People die. And Sean Connery's character is faced with a situation in which hit men are coming to kill him and almost no one wil help him. His only support is from an aging doctor who is well acted and a strong female character. James Sikking, Peter Boyle, Frances Sternhagen and Steven Berkoff are in it.
