I used techniques like time outs and ignoring and even physically restraining very young children having tantrums, and also consequences appropriate to the offence. Occasionally confiscating toys. But I never thought of them as punishments, but more teaching moments, as afterwards we'd have age-appropriate talks about what they did, what they should have done etc. My kids have always been very well behaved since they were little, and now I rarely have any problems. I think many people just don't take the time to find solutions to parenting problems. I know plenty who have just not been firm enough at a young age, and are going to have huge problems as the kids get older.

Kids get away with so much these days and some parents seem to be letting them get away from it sadly.

Horrible wet weather today, but we had a nice day out in Hastings today anyway.

Yes Hastings the town on the south coast near to Battle, where the battle of Hastings was. (If that makes sense.)

Kind of. You can visit Battle Abbey in Battle which is owned by English Heritage. There's a shop, restaurant, and you can walk around the ruins.

I didn't go to Battle today though. In Hastings there are normal seaside attractions, and some nice interesting shops, and part of a castle to visit.

Hastings is a nice seaside town, it's not too focused on attractions, and has some character. Unlike places like Brighton, which I really can't stand.

Not sure we have many day trips, it is nice there are places locally to go to like that, though.

It takes 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic. Not a bad time really.
