Definitely I'd say read the books first, you have ten months until the show returns, that should be enough And if you have any questions, I am happy to assist

Personally I wouldn't recommend it, in this particular case, but yeah they're kind of massive I would say maybe at least read the first one, then do the show. Most of the very important backstory will be in there

Has anybody seen the Coneheads movie? Weirdest movie ever tbh, lol.

I watched Seasons 1 & 2 of GoT, then read all the books just before S3 started. I did nothing else for 2 solid weeks.
In the first 2-3 seasons, the show followed the books pretty closely. The only problem I see with reading the books first is that they're so awesome, and you hate it when the show leaves out huge chunks of the books, as has happened in Seasons 4-5. ASOIAF IS massive; and it would probably take 15 seasons or more to include everything from the books - and with at least 2 more to be published! It also seems that the showrunners don't have an appreciation for many of the fantastical elements that make the books so enjoyable to SF/F readers. __________________

But that is the problem right there, they couldn't go that long, so they have to make allowances and cut back. It might be harder to go into the books after having seen the show I think... Harder to make your own image of things. I saw s1 before reading book 1 and I wish I'd done it the other way around

I read that HBO wanted them to commit to 10 seasons but D&D wouldn't agree to more than 7.

Populars shows can go on forever, but the writers have to make the right decision, I say no show should go more than 8 seasons, more is just too much and prone to lose quality.
I'm wondering when TWD will end since the ratings are insanely high, hopefully no more than 7/8 seasons, I'd rather miss it when it's gone than watch them cover the boring stuff the comics are doing now. __________________
