Mythos Academy Series by Jennifer Estep #1

The Mythos Academy young adult urban fantasy series focuses on Gwen Frost, a 17-year-old Gypsy girl who has the gift of psychometry, or the ability to know an object’s history just by touching it. After a serious freak-out with her magic, Gwen is shipped off to Mythos Academy, a school for the descendants of ancient warriors like Spartans, Valkyries, Amazons, and more.

Books in the series are Touch of Frost and Kiss of Frost. Dark Frost, the third book, will be published on May 29, 2012, while Crimson Frost, the fourth book, is tentatively scheduled to be published in January 2013.

First Frost, a prequel e-story to the series, is available as a download. Also, Halloween Frost, an e-story, can be found in the Entangled e-anthology that is available from online booksellers. All proceeds from Entangled go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

I haven't started this series yet but I have read most of the Elemental Assassin series by Jennifer Estep and enjoyed it, when I heard she had done a YA series I was intrigued and Psychometry is one of my favorite 'powers'. I'm looking forward to reading this. So is the prequel story really worth getting or is it just bonus? or does it help get a hold on the character, etc.?

Welcome, Pammie I haven't read the prequel so I can't tell you if it's necessary or not. Sorry.

I haven't read any of the books but I do know most series with prequels like that aren't necessary to read. They are just bonus.

That's true -they usually just give you a bit more insight but aren't necessary.

I'll try to get the first book this weekend.

The first book of the series is the book of the month @ the Books board. So it's a great time to check out the series now.
