THE MARTIAN | Official Trailer: During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. I added this link to a Wiki about the book in the OP, which I'm feeling very tempted to read. Wikipedia: The Martian
It includes this awesome map (I'm [sp] tagging due to size):

Did you, Rita? So you liked the book?
I don't want to wait to see the movie. Maybe I'll read the book after we see the movie and you can tell me that it's still worth the investment of time.

I just came back from the cinema so excuse me if I'm a bit over the top, but at the moment I'm still on a Martian high and cannot express how much I loved it, loved it, loved it! I was worried my 9yo son would be bored, but the whole family was jumping up and down in excitement during and after, so I guess it was a success!

As for the book, I do prefer the movie, only because of the visuals and because I had to skip reading some bits because it was too technical and I wouldn't understand it anyway. They kept the explanations in the film at a level an average viewer would understand it so that was better because I'm stupid

Rita, that's wonderful!
The reviewer on NPR this morning was also raving about it.
I don't think we'll be able to go this weekend, unfortunately; but hoping to go next week.
