This was a mid 90s vampire show about vampire clans in San Francisco trying to live in human society. The lead character was Julian Luna, the Prince of the vampires, a civilized, sympathetic vampire who could nonetheless be ruthless, excellently played by British actor Mark Frankel. Other cast members include Brian Thompson, Stacy Haiduk, Kelly Rutherford, Jeff Kober, Channon Roe, Patrick Bauchau, Brigid Branagh, Kate Vernon, C Thomas Howell and Erik King. It only ran for 8 episodes but it had some interesting stuff and some good characters, most notably Julian, Lillie Langtry (Haiduk), Daedalus (Kober) and Archon Raine (Bauchau). It was based on the 90s vampire roleplaying game Vampire: The Masquerade. It was cancelled but attempts were being made to revive it when its main star, Mark Frankel (Julian) was killed in a motorcycle crash. It's available on dvd.

I never played the game, but I used to really love the show. I really liked it's unique approach to vampires and the different clans (and the personality changes that come with being part of them).

I also really loved the relationship between Cash and Sasha

The show is much better than the game. The game is very negative and puts all sorts of negative restrictions on the vampires. The game and the show are quite different, in mentality, mood and the rules of vampire abilities and suchlike. The show isn't based that closely on the game.

For a discussion topic choice though, I do remember that I had always thought that Julian and Lilie should be together rather than Julian and Caitlyn. (I hope I have their names right). Which one did you prefer?

I prefer Julian and Lillie to Julian and Caitlin. Compared to Lillie, Caitlin was a wet blanket. Julian/Caitlin was the old cliche of a male vampire with a female human, while Julian/Lillie was more believable and those two had more in common. And I don't like a relationship in which one member is memory-wiping the other. Admittedly he did it because she'd be killed otherwise, so it wasn't as bad as Willow mind-wiping Tara, but I still didn't like it one bit.
