I recently read the ebook of Magic Bleeds and thought it was awesome. I'm so glad Kate will be her own boss now. Urban fantasy seems to follow that trend of having protagonists who are financially strapped but firmly independent.

btw, did Magic Bleeds explain where exactly the attack poodle came from? I can't seem to recall if they did or not. I thought the dog provided a lot of lighthearted moments to that last book.

I don't think I have a favourite...but I do sense that Andrews' writing is getting stronger as the series goes on. The last 2 books really reminded me of the way the Anita Blake series used to be in the good old days.

That said...I hope this series doesn't go down the formulaic path that so many urban fantasy authors go down these days. You know the path I'm talking about right? It's the one where the author will 1)throw in layers upon layers of non-stop supernatural politics 2)put the protagonist in a hostile love triangle and 3)give the protagonist world shattering powers

Andrews seems to be flirting with 1 & 2 in her writing, but at least 3 feels far off. Yes, Kate has some pretty mean powers but I like that those powers are subtle and take great effort to use. It makes her character more real that way.

I love all of the books, but I think I lean toward Magic Bleeds as my favourite

Early summer? Bleeds was late spring I love how Ilona and Gordon keep us happy with all the snippets, though, so hopefully it won't be too painful of a wait

Yeah... not sure, it might be the same model more, um, bustily enhanced (), but the one used for the first books did look a bit more like I expected her to look from the books. And yeah, the lion's cool.

I just remember the girl on Strikes was really skinny
