Wonderful gifsets, Karen!

I saw the movie yesterday (Christmas), but I hesitate to say too much until more people have seen it.
It was visually epic, of course, as have been all the Ring movies; but I think PJ could've easily done The Hobbit justice in 2 movies rather than 3. JMHO.
I found the endless destruction/battle scenes repetitive to the point of boring after a while .. and they were broken up only by sadness. So, be prepared for that.
Compared to the previous 2, Bilbo didn't have all that much to do, either.

I saw The Battle of the Five Armies on the 23rd with my family. I have yet to see An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug. So I was a little lost, but still enjoyed it. I might when the Five Armies comes out on dvd. I might do a marathon with all six movies.

Anna, I'm thinking it would be interesting to re-watch the 3 Hobbit movies, then the LotR trilogy, just to see how the story flows.

Karen, that's an amazing gifset at #37!

Very disappointed by last movie. Not cause the deaths but because I expected better quality effects and acting. Obviously fake tears are never good!

Rita, it felt like 2/3 of the movie was battle scenes. Pretty soon, my eyes glazed over. I was seriously in danger of dozing off several times.

I can't say if I liked the movie or not truthfully. Because I haven't seen the first two and don't know the story that strong. And I saw the movie in 3D, I hate 3D, those kinds of movies hurt my eyes. So I was half watching and half glazing over. But I really liked the characters and how well the special effects were. And the story and dialogue was well done.

Anna, you do need to see the other movies. The battles of the 3rd one would be meaningless without the context of the first 2 (imo).

I've never seen a movie in 3D. I think it would bother my eyes, too.
