| Master Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Forever Knight -The original vampire detective show Forever Knight was a show about Nick Knight, Nicholas de Brabant, a 13th century warrior who was turned into vampire in 1228 in Paris and preyed on humans, but years later sought redemption and wanted to become human again. He became a Toronto police detective in the 90s (the show was Canadian) and sought to repay humanity for his sins. The show wasn't brilliantly made but it had a really good central performance by Welsh actor Geraint Wyn Davies as Nick. Other characters included Nick's cop colleagues and other vampires, including Nick's annoying maker Lacroix. Nick wanted to be with coroner Nat, but his vampire nature prevented him from being with her (her might lose it and drain her if they got frisky). He also interacted with his ex, the vampire Janette, who owned a vampire club. The show ran for three seasons, 1992-1996. It had significant influence. The later show Angel: The Series was about a vampire detective, who, like Nick, drove around in a car with a roll-down top, drank animal blood, sought redemption, wanted to become human and couldn't have the human romance he wanted. Moonlight was about a vampire detective called Mick who was similarly romantically challenged. Forever Knight was the original vampire detective show and one of the first vampire tv shows. Pic of Nick I found on google images (my internet security says the page is safe): http://img.movieberry.com/static/pho...54490_midi.jpg __________________ Last edited by sum1; 12-04-2010 at 08:26 AM. | |||

I don't think I know the show (the title sounds familiar somehow, but the description doesn't), but I see it's been released on DVD so might give it a go.__________________ This is my confession, I need your heart In this depression, I need your heart

He once nearly drove off the road. So the show gives you the impression that here's a guy who can't keep his mind on whatever's at hand and is always reminiscing about the past. __________________

Apart from the well-acted Nick, There were Nat, Captain Stonetree and detective Skanky, who were acted with a lot of personality. Janette was also done well. The actress did a good job making her seem fey and graceful, fitting for female vampire. The weak link was Nigel Bennett as Nick's maker/sire Lacroix. I've seen Bennett in a number of roles and it seems to me he can't play a part with overacting, and that leer seems glued to his face. You can't say he doesn't bring energy to his performances and there's even a certain degree of charm, but he overdoes it to the point of being annoying. And Lacroix is made annoying by the writing too. __________________ Last edited by sum1; 12-20-2010 at 03:56 AM.

| Master Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The ending of the show is awful. Even Geraint Wyn Davies described it as "a bit bogus". Nicks maker/sire/master Lacroix becomes more tolerable as time goes by. The performance is a mixture of good points and bad points. The vampire Vachon is a very likable character (season 3), due to a good performance by the actor (Ben Bass). Unfortunately he's not on the show that much. Nick's season 3 cop partner Tracy Vetter is unpopular with some fans, but she doesn't deserve to be. She's quite likable and relatable. What happened to her in the end actually bothered me more than what happened to Nick and Nat. Tracy is acted by Lisa Ryder from Andromeda. Blu Mankuma is good as the season 3 captain. __________________ | |||

| Master Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | In Forever Knight you're clearly supposed to buy that Nick's maker/sire/"master" Lacroix is straight, despite him being sooo camp and clearly having a thing for Nick. They even gave him a ridiculous doomed love with Nick's sister to establish his straightness. I guess back then they couldn't have a character like that be openly gay on tv. But then they had the show end with Lacroix penetrating Nick from behind with a spear... __________________ | |||
