Thank you. On both accounts even though I've switched it now. The one I was using previously was made by teh_indy on LJ. I heart her icons.

For our UK Browncoats!

Cross-posting - -

Posted over at the Firefly OB -- just spreadin' the word to them as need it told.

Quote:
On the weekend of August 13th and 14th there will be a unique experiment in British fandom, a Browncoats' Fan Table at an event called Memorabilia. We have followed the lead of our American Browncoat buddies and are determined to show our presence in advance of the release of the BDM here in the UK.

Our sponsors are UIP the UK distributors of Serenity.

This is the first event sponsored by UIP to promote the movie Serenity. Although it has been set up by and funded by Browncoats, UIP realise that the passion is all-important to the promotion of the movie.

This event will not clash with any proposed screenings of the movie also being promoted by UIP.

HOWEVER, they aim to use it as an opportunity to spread the word among NON-Browncoats and are hoping that we Browncoats will do out bit for the cause.

We aim to push the movie by running the trailers on our table using a TFT tv to show people exactly how good this movie will be. Additionally, we will be selling and/or giving away merchandise from the movie. Some of it is official and some of it is fan made.

As we all know the movie NEEDS your help to get the word out there. It is unlikely that people will simply just stroll into the cinema to see it unless there is a real buzz about it and that is where the Browncoats can come into it. We have 10,000 potential converts attending the Memorabilia event.

PLEASE COME AND GIVE SOME TIME BY HANDING OUT FLYERS AROUND THE EVENT AND SHOWING YOUR ENTHUSIASM FOR THE SHOW/MOVIE.

The shindig on the Saturday night is simply to give Browncoats something to do overnight between the two days on the stand. We will be meeting and getting to know Browncoats from around the UK.

We will also have some fan videos that are rarely seen as they are not available on the internet. There will be the chance to dress up in your best fancy dress gear and enjoy the company of fellow flans.

Our raffle has a couple of amazing prizes one being a full-weekend pass to Serenity the Flanvention in LA in December, another being a signed cast shot with 9 amazing autographs on it obtained courtesy of Summer Glau. We also have items signed by Summer herself too.

All profits from this event will go directly to charity.

I REPEAT, PLEASE COME AND GIVE YOUR TIME TO MAKE THIS A HUGELY SUCCESSFUL PROMOTION UNLIKE THE DEBACLE OF THE LONDON FILM AND COMIC CON. UIP WANT THIS TO BE A SUCCESS AND SO DO THE CAST THEMSELVES.

Anyone wanting to know how to buy tickets for the shindig should email shindig@summerglau.co.uk Tickets cost £20 each to help cover costs of room hire etc.

I saw the trailer for the second time the other day. Now that I've read the Harry Potter book, I can totally dedicate my fandom energy into counting down until September 30!

I want to go to that!! But I just can't justify the cost as well as the trip to Edinburgh - luckily, I'll still get to hang with all the shiny people running the thing *in* Edinburgh, so I won't completely miss out!

I watched the first part of Serenity (the Firefly pilot episode, that is) during it's debut on the Sci-Fi channel last night...it almost made me weepy, seeing her fly back onto television, where she belongs! How sad to think that we should be gearing up for our 4th season...

Ruttin' F*x morons...

Sean Maher(Simon Tam) is going to be in the new LIFETIME Movie "The Dive From Clausen's Pier" with Michelle Trachtenberg(Buffy) and Will Estes(American Dreams). It airs on Monday @ 9 pm. He looks hot.

I had the exact same feeling as I was watching! And then later last night I was telling a friend that he should watch it on sci-fi on Fridays. I had to go into the whole thing about how it was cancelled and now is going to be a movie. And when I started thinking about it I was shocked that it has been off the air for 3 and a half seasons. I couldn't believe it had been that long. And frankly, that my loyalty to it has lasted that long.

Has it really been that long? I guess my DVDs, fanfic, and fanvids have kept me from noticing, I guess. Though I wish we were getting ready for season 4. What would have changed? Would Mal and Inara kissed? Would Kaylee have finally gotten Simon into bed? Would Book still have all his sercets? Would Wash and Zoe be together? Would they have tried to have children? Would Jayne be nicer to the Tams? Would River still be hunted by the Blue Hands? What kind of mad cap fun would these outlaws been up to? <Not as happy as it looks. I miss this show.

4 years, huh? Well, it's brand new to me, so all I'm thinking really is "Damn, this is a good show. Fox doesn't know a good thing when they've got it."

Wow. It's been that long? Amazing. We have this loyalty to a show that didn't even make it a whole season. ( )

Guess that just shows how good it is.

'Safe' was the most recent episode I rewatched. Love the ending - Mal's matter-of-fact statement that he saved Simon and River because they're on his crew, and Simon being so confused by that. He really doesn't understand the captain yet. (And the whole tension between Mal and Simon makes so much more sense when the episodes are actually shown in order.)

Oh, I adore 'Safe'. Simon and River are my favorite relationship on the show. And the ending with Simon and River joining the crew at the table for dinner...to me it was then that you could really see they were apart of the crew and thus the family.

Safe might be my favourite episode. River's whole performance throughout is in turns delightful and heartbreaking. And the River/Simon scene at the postholer makes my CSI heart go all aflutter.
